The second easiest team puzzle ever
Good on you @Little Goffy! On to it soon. Meanwhile, I note a bench of only 4. If this team is up for 2026, you can fit Laurie in!

Welcome to Demonland: Jack Steele
Hmmm... We exited a player who wanted to continue playing midfield but we told him he mightn't be, and we got a player because he was told he mightn't be playing midfield and we wanted him to. I'm OK with the former and happy with the latter, btw. But curious, innit? Kinda confirms there was a lot more to both moves, particularly the former.

I'll have a spell, though; after your tease I'm feeling a bit roar.

...and, to make it a real challenge I'll deny myself the use of any Fitzroy/Brisbane players!

Demonstone's Temporaneous Temerarious Telestic Teaser
(1) No (2) No* (3) No *At best I think I was close-ish to finding a commonality in (some of) the clues but I guess it was an apt find! I think you should hold the bronze over for #49. I'll accept a Participation ribbon, though (and then maybe get it bronzed?😉) Re the clues I didn't get, btw, movies n music are not my forte, I needed someone to identify Ruffalo - though it prob wouldn't have helped (I did know RDJr, though - also didn't help), Ralph Wiggum - who knew?!, and I thought your new car was a Zephyr! I'm guessing you're a Taurus, btw? 😄

Demonstone's Temporaneous Temerarious Telestic Teaser
@Demonstone: Bullseye? Herd? Beef? Tauru just short (by 's'?!)? BS? An actual gimme clue might 'meat' us half way?

Demonstone's Temporaneous Temerarious Telestic Teaser
Not my raft, of course; yours. Now this forum is big on nicknames, I've noticed. I may need to adopt 'Tiki' for you, Mr Stone. As in, 'This is just another con, Tiki!'

Just joining now, all. So, no doubt, the evident raft of clues will give it to me straight away! Yeah, right...

Welcome to Demonland: Riley Onley
I'm sorry I brought a peeve to the surface again for you, Bob. 😔 The respective meanings you have outlined actually represent the point I was trying to make. At the time Goodwin referred to them, in post-match pressers, the outcomes of games were 'lessons', not 'learnings'. They were information, from the game, and, in due course, to be (re)delivered by the coaches. Yes, they were prospective learnings, but they had yet to be translated into, as you rightly put it, information of importance (relevance, usefulness, usability) to the players. And, as you say, there is no guarantee 'learning' will be achieved. So, if a coach wants to use 'learnings' at a post-match presser, it should be framed as 'there were lessons from the game that we hope/intend/expect/etc will become learnings for the players'.

AFLW Trade Period 2025
What news on our new coach? Somewhat urgent if we're to put ourselves in a position to be attracting interest the other way. In the absence of a replacement for Mick, are there any rumours of interest the other way? If Eden is leaving, what about prising out one of the two Power girls who topped the goal kicking?

Welcome to Demonland: Riley Onley
A pet peeve of mine, too. 'Lesson' has the sense of something presented and available for use. 'Learnings' has the sense of the use being made. Our last coach clearly meant the former in his frequent use of the latter. Many on here would say the latter was rarely realised.

A Draft-Done-and-Dusted Distraction: a Doozy or a Doddle?
I thought this one was all over, but, out of the clouds has come @Tim to correctly and succinctly articulate the balance. Welcome to Demonland Puzzledom, Tim*, and enjoy your 'silver' of quiet satisfaction. I feel bound now to upgrade @Demonstone's participation award to the 'bronze'. With early dedication, he established that the totals of the letters of the players' given names and family names were the same (136). Definitely a 'balance' I hadn't considered, a direct arithmetic consequence of the full answer, and true of the team list. But it missed the further balances in the team as positioned. @Ghostwriter twigged early that there must be a reason why I had to call our coach 'Steve'. The given names and family names of the players in my 'spine' - the centre column - are all in balance, having the same number of letters. Down the outer side of my field - the left column - the given names all have one letter less than the family names, but that's balanced down the other side - the right column - by the given names having one letter more than the family names. 'Counting on me to spell out the answer'? 'Centre your thoughts and you'll be left right there with the answer.' @beelzebub started to get close but he was looking across the lines. I'll give your VC-grade participation ribbon to him, Mr Stone, if that's OK? I'll dust off my own Grade 1 egg-and-spoon an sack race ribbons to placate @Little Goffy and @Neil Crompton. Thanks for playing, everyone. As usual, I feel bound to apologise! (*I assure players Tim and I are 2 different people, btw. He's not a straw-man me to help bring this to a close!)

A Draft-Done-and-Dusted Distraction: a Doozy or a Doddle?
Are you counting on me to spell it out, perhaps, LG? You, too, @beelzebub, and any others lurking secretly? @Demonstone, you were so, soo, sooo close, too.

A Draft-Done-and-Dusted Distraction: a Doozy or a Doddle?
@Ghostwriter has spotted something important. She now teeters between glory and madness. No clues there. Just a sympathetic observation. You don't need anything else but that team sheet to find the balance I claim for it. Concentrate: centre your thoughts and you'll be left right there with the answer.
