Death by the pre-tackle
YES! Was noticing it more and more as the game went on. Fair enough that the central umpire was missing, but surely holding off the ball is what the other two should be looking out for at stoppages.

Umpiring
That’s the one I was thinking of... I might need to check the replay. Looked like Kossi lowered his head and rammed his shoulder into an opponent’s ribs.

Umpiring
Does anyone know what the infringement was that Pickett committed in his tackle? (3rd quarter I think)

Angus Brayshaw
Something has to change because what is currently happening doesn't work for anyone. It needs to be a change to his role on-field, attitude or both, but there needs to be a change.

Kozzie Pickett's no-stat highlights reel
There’s a lot of 04/05 Aaron Davey about him. May have a higher ceiling, but that tenacious efforts and agility is very early-Davey.

Current Team Potentially Best in 50 Years
In all fairness, the OP is about potential and it makes for an interesting and confusing analysis. On paper, the line-up is very strong and there is undoubtedly talent across each line. The question probably is why/how/when that talent will translate into performances better than some of the stronger Mebourne teams of the past few decades.

Current Team Potentially Best in 50 Years
I think it's a matter of talent vs team or, dare I say, team of champions vs champion team. There's an awful lot of talent in the current line-up, but we are not playing as well collectively as the 2000 team. There was a stack of talent in the '94 team, but there was not an even spread across the park - namely the defense and midfield were significantly weaker talent-wise that the forward line. Let's not forget, for all it's talent and enthusiasm, that team only made the finals after beating Sydney in the final round. Lose that and the '94 team finishes outside the 8 and is not talked about again. From the weekend, you could find a role for: Gawn Oliver Petracca May Viney Langdon Salem Harmes Hibberd Mostly midfield and defenders and, on current form, you'd probably consider Lever and Oscar too. Our starting tall backs in the 2000 grand final were: Ingerson, Nicholson and Collins; good honest footballers who could play a role, but certainly not incredible players. Again, a starting midfield of White, Rigoni, Leoncelli and Woewodin were playing very well collectively in 2000, but I would have my money on Gawn, Oliver, Petracca and Viney to be getting the ball out of the middle ahead of them.

What has happened to Clayton Oliver?
I've never really noticed his ball-drop until recently. It's not so much 'high' as it is forced down onto his boot from up high. It's as though he's standing in the middle of a pack and slamming it onto his boot as he doesn't have the time/space to build momentum. The problem being, he uses this ball-drop even when he's running into space.

What they're saying down at Glenferrie Road
Clarkson is an exceptional Coach but he simply doesn't have the cattle to execute a winning game-plan. I think the last few years we've seen Hawthorn artificially propped-up by some aging stars, NQR imports and some coaching ingenuity. But the talent coming in has not matched the talent going out (including Fagan). We're now going to see a power struggle (ego-clash) between Kennett and Clarkson, similar to what we saw 2009-10. I think the media is going to lap it up and there will be genuine pressure for the Hawks to have a fresh start with Mitchell and for Clarkson to take over a ready made list. We're already seeing shades of this through Jordan Lewis and Kennett last week.

Expected release date is 14th of September. Have to sell all the space, then get them made.

CHANGES: Rd 08 vs Brisbane
I think it'll be TMac for Jackson. Probably best if Harris Andrews isn't playing on Weid or Jackson.

Like the Geelong vs Carlton game. Port should be up by 20.

NON MFC: Round 07
That was silly/selfish of Dixon. Rushed his set shot because he was concerned about the ump sending him off for the blood rule.

The official I love Dom Tyson thread
1. He's injured. This has been covered already and you are choosing to ignore it. 2. I believe that in 2013, being offered a young, former pick 3 and pick 9 is a good deal. The trade was and still is equitable. We take Cripps with that pick, then we've completely have nailed it. In 2013 we had Nathan Jones in the middle with an 18yo Jack Viney... then that was it.

The official I love Dom Tyson thread
It was a good trade and the right thing to do at the time. We needed someone who could step in right away and it was always about weighing up the odds of two potentially good players vs one potentially good player. If the Salem pick went to recruiting Cripps at pick 12, then it would have been a master-stroke. It’s swing and roundabouts. Not to mention that fact that Roos has said several times that that pick was never going to Kelly, but to Billings. Its very easy to snipe in retrospect, but even 7 years later you’ve err’d; if we had kept Pick 2 we should have used it on Bontempelli. Drafting’s much easier a decade after the fact.
