  1. Surely would have also gone through his former coach who originally drafted him.
  2. Whenever I'm watching Geelong, he seems to be playing alright. Doesn't seem to be a ball-magnety and clearly I've missed the matches where he's stunk it up. We need someone to be a big bodied replacement for Preuss. Whilst he wasn't getting regular games, he was able to provide a contest in Gawn's absence. I'd hate to see Jackson having to ruck entire matches at his age/weight. At the moment, Tom McDonald would need to cover Gawn in case of injury, and if he leaves as well, then the need grows greater.
  3. I’d speculate it may have been Neil Craig recommending that one.
  4. I personally think the coaches’ award is the one to watch for real insight. With that said, there’s not many times the Brownlow has gone to an undeserving recipient.
  5. Maybe. But it’s a completely different voting system. If anything, it suggests that when the team plays poorly, Viney still plays well.
  6. It’s a very strange kind of grief. In some ways you’re not sure if your entitled to grieve or if there are degrees to which your loss stacks up against that of others. It’s strange that, to even someone who has gone through it twice in the last twelve months, that making your loss known to others is still somewhat taboo. People are now staring to talk about it, and that’s a good thing.
  7. One of my all-time favourite Dees. Whilst speed was never his strength, what little he had, seems to have gone. If Collingwood are offering more years, I certainly wouldn't begrudge him leaving. A great servant to the club who has played many years on little money; he needs to look after himself and his family for the final years of his career.
  8. And good on the bowls club for standing their ground under what would have been immense pressure.
  9. It's a huge stretch by Wilson. Google maps puts it 15 minutes drive down the road, yet she's described it as 'isolated'. There was zero room for expansion at Windy Hill and can't be compared to the Saints move to a truly isolated location at Seaford.
  10. Just not feeling it... I hope that, if it does pan-out, that he costs us very little and that he earns his spot in the team. Vince and Lewis were playing games well past their used by date and I hope the presence of Smith breeds competition for spots and not complacency.
  11. Just so impressed by his performances this year; he was tenacious, hard-at-it, fast and skillful. He looked like he believed he belonged out there from his very first match. Don't think anyone would have batted an eyelid if this was the first handful of games from a first round.
  12. No interest in a pick for a mature age ruckman who will be first 22 for GWS. Would be very interested if we could get Brisbane involved for a player like Witherden.
  13. Source that Oliver was looking to join Carlton... page 21 of the 'Oliver Rumours on Footy Classified' thread.
  14. Is there any source for this information though or is it still all from McClure on footy classified uttering 6 words two weeks ago..?
  15. Exactly! How is this thread still going!? It was a throw-away comment in a gossip segment on a sensationalist football chat show. No media outlet has run with, it's a complete non-story. It sits at the top of the board every day and you click on it thinking that something has actually been said/happened... but, no; there's nothing new.
  16. The full match is on YouTube. So many great players in that line-up.
  17. I'd personally add a tick to Hannan. Pick 46 50 games (so far) Averages over a goal a game.
  18. If there is one thing we've done well over my time following the MFC, it's developing ruckmen. Jim Stynes (Brownlow, 2 x All Australians, 4 x BnF) Jeff White (1 x All Australian, 1 x BnF) Mark Jamar (1x All Australian) Max Gawn (4 x All Australian, 2 x BnF) Not to mention Darren Jolly, Troy Simmonds and Stef Martin. That's 30 years of consistently elite performances - I'd say that'd be better than any team in the league.
  19. Seems getting out of Victoria is his number 1 criterion. Makes sense; highly recognisable young man, playing for a polarising team.
  20. Great news! Has finally got his body right and is entering his peak age as a footballer.
  21. Passing comment on Footy Classified about a player 'looking unhappy' at the BnF leads to 14 pages in a week.
  22. My understanding was that it wasn’t whether or not he could play, but what he was demanding in regards to contract length and size. The MFC’s view wasn’t that he was bad, just that he wasn’t that good. I liked him, but haven’t really missed him.
  23. Would consider trading in a player, but would rather not part with a developed, mature player for a late pick.
  24. Sad that it's worked out this way. Looked like it could have been a really positive story to come out of 2020 and beyond. Pretty deflating. Glad that the club took a chance on him and a credit to our medic and fitness staff that they got his body right.
