  1. Watched the interview and, as always with discussions on Jack Trengove’s career, left feeling a bit sad and empty. He’s a very resilient man though, much stronger and more positive than most. No one could ever blame him for being a bit bitter, but that’s now how his mind works. I imagine Mike doesn’t surprise many guests with his question. I’d say that JT made it clear what he was and was not willing to discuss... one day we’ll get the whole story.
  2. I was disappointed when Tyson left. Much like Brayshaw last year, he was playing out of position in 2018 and struggled. Would have played regular matches last year for us if fit. If memory serves correctly, I think the Gold Coast tried to lure him Nth. In retrospect, that would have been a perfect move for him. Sad that he’s had so many injury problems over the past 12 months. A player like him would improve our list overall and I believe the club when they said we’d have been happy to keep him, but can’t see it happening.
  3. I’d say he was front-runner for the first half of the season, but he’s dropped off quite a bit now. Definitely a chance if his form picks back up.
  4. Max is a huge chance with the games remaining. Nic Nat is the biggest threat, but for a ruckman to have only taken six marks for the year is a very poor result from a big man. He can tap... that’s it.
  5. As the holders of Hawthorn's pick two this year, I'm pretty happy with that result.
  6. I think he got 4 against Brisbane in a practice match, but the way some carry on you’d think we have Allen Jakovich playing in the back pocket.
  7. He’s kicked 1 goal in his entire career.
  8. And he was 100% worth a shot on the back of who his father was and being able to sign him as a Category B Rookie. He can fill some gaps and is a decent athlete. I just can't see him solving any of our onfield programs and would see him as the back-up to the back-up in just about every part of the ground.
  9. Reminds me a lot of Jeff Garlett's year in 2015. His performance with 40 goals in a bottom team after trading him in for next to nothing. Butler would not have done it at Richmond and he may not have been able to do at any other club. Enjoy his success story; we don't have to flagellate ourselves every time a traded player or draftee plays well.
  10. Good luck to him and I'd love him to prove me wrong... but he's just not a talented footballer. I have not idea what he's done to endear himself to so many on Demonland, but I have never seen anything that says he will be a quality player. Whether it be forward or back, I've never seen him play a good match at AFL level.
  11. Saying ‘we couldn’t match them’ is not a compliment, it’s a statement of fact. We didn’t lift our intensity to their level - therefore we lost. They played well, we didn’t. It’s not making excuses, it’s what happened.
  12. Doggies played very well today; they’re a hot and cold side and today they brought their best. We weren’t able to match them.
  13. Definite yes. Get him out of WA.
  14. He is a much better player when he is forward of center and taking Trac's old spot on half forward may see him come close to the 300. I am concerned by a bit of a drop off in his pace - was led to the ball a couple of times by a defender on the weekend, then burnt off. Love him... not sure he'll quite get there this year.
  15. We traded him in for pick 23, so we've come out alright!
  16. I think it’s structural, particularly for Lever. He needs two other key defenders playing alongside him for his game to really click. You’re right in that there has been a marked difference when we started playing either Oscar or Tomlinson in the back six.
  17. He’s fallen back into his Mr Fixit role that he had at GWS. In his time there he started as a forward, moved to defence, then finished as a wing / relief ruck. He may be something of a jack of all trades, master of none. I was and am a fan and still think he’s a great addition. Without being able to attend matches in person, it’s so hard to understand his role in defence. One thing I do know is that since he’s moved to defence, lever and may have looked good, the backline has been solid and we’ve won three from three. On the basis of that, things are looking good!
  18. I think 'the love' usually comes down to the circumstances under which a player left. As Whispering Jack said, he stood tall during some very challenging years (under five different coaches), he was a Vice Captain of the club, he wasn't overly blessed with talent, but made the best of what he had most importantly in my book, he was moved on by the club, not because he wanted to go. He, along with players like Watts and Trengove, will hold a special place in people in people's hearts because they loved the club and didn't want to leave. The same affection isn't really afforded to Scully, Frawley, Howe, etc. Not saying that you and everyone else needs to like Dunn, but I have a lot of time for him and wish him all the best.
  19. Weid missing after the siren against the Crows last year in the NT.
  20. Gun and highly underrated. Tough, fast, good skills and is building his confidence and composure.
  21. Thought he's been good the last couple of weeks when playing 2nd tall forward / relief ruckman. Frees him up a bit and doesn't expose his recent lack of agility.
  22. Two of the worst free kicks you’ll ever see followed by one of the best kicks you’ll ever see.
  23. It's truly incredible what he has done with this list. We were given great access through the 'To hell and back' series and he not only has them fit and healthy, but he built their confidence and belief in themselves. He can be signed for life as far as I'm concerned. A figure like Burgess can also attract players to the club, especially ones like Harley Bennell who have had a bad run of injuries.
  24. Dropped a stack of weight over the summer and looked in very good nick on the track. Hopefully he's been able to rebuild his base and maintain that discipline since then.
  25. It's promotion for the club and positive exposure for our sponsors. With the world the way it is, we should enjoy any win that we can get.
