There would need to be picks involved for that to happen IMHO. Adelaide losing Lever and getting only Gibbs in return is daylight robbery. Melbourne losing Watts and gaining Lever is also weighted far too heavily in our favour.

Would be tragic if Watts missed the finals after everything he, and the club has been through. Did Goodwin suggest it was form or attitude??

I think we've missed Watts, especially today. However, that's an in-form Watts so if he's ticked the boxes with the coaches, then he's a must to get a run before the finals. Same goes for Salem. If he's in our finals plans, he may need the run as he missed this week due to suspension and then there's the bye the week after. My understanding is that Goodwin has already ruled out Viney for next week so Billy can have another week to possibly hit his stride. Wagner has seemed off the pace this year and makes way. If he struggling for touch and space against Brisbane, then he's not ready for finals pressure.

Agree with half of this. Clay Beams was certainly at fault as he dived head first into Bernie knees, attempting to draw a free kick. The problem with the Dayne incident is that Bernie took his eyes off the ball when going back with the flight - eyes on the ball, then there'd be no problem. With that said, I don't think he has any case to answer. The forearm was careless rather than malicious, and a quick peek at the stats will tell you that Beams was hardly impeded by the knock.

I think betting agencies would love Clarry to win - all the money's been poured into Dangerfield and Martin. Only a handful of Melbourne supporters would think he has any chance.

Not concerned about the Weed at all. He demonstrates the desire, commitment and talent to be a good KPF for us going forward. Im a little disappointed that he was playing this week, truth be told. Would hve been happy for him to continue playing at VFL level for the remainder of the year where he was stringing together a good run of matches.

Would still love to see him build his tank and play at the centre bounce- I think we haven't seen close to what he's capable of.

Genuinely shocked to hear him being rated on this site! He is a very, very average footballer in the mold of Brad Miller. That's no slight on Miller, he had a good career for a player of his ability - but I'd say Sicily's just about peaked; what you now see is what you get. Average key forward, average tall defender. (plays for free kicks way too often too)

It's simply not true though- there was a thread on this topic following the WCE win, where Viney played a blinder as captain. It's never been a slight on Viney to think the decision was the wrong one and being a 'keyboard warrior' has nothing to do with it.

I still think it'd be better to have Jones as the standalone captain and Viney as his vice. I disagree with Barrett's assertion that it was a 'safe' decision as though that's some sort of negative thing. Jack Viney would now be acting captain, and still be playing the exact same brand of footy now as he's been playing his entire career as he only knows one way- the captaincy hasn't changed that. Viney is a young player of exception talent and courage- he will be a long term captain of the MFC. He's displayed these qualities since his first match when he confronted the team in the rooms following a loss to Port Adelaide. Viney's leadership' never been in doubt, but the timing has been called into question. But... the decisions made, the season's two thirds over and it isn't going to change. While not a terrible decision, or even a particularly bad one, I think it was a call made too early.

People are jumping at shadows a bit regarding injuries in this thread- and honestly, after the year we've had, who can blame them. Id be shocked if Jetta missed with a rolled ankle, Gawn with clear scans, or Viney after playing through so well on the weekend. Im predicting Jones to be held off for at least one more week- he's too important to our September prospects to be rushed and I'll be damned if we make the finals and N.Jones isn't the man to lead us out!

I would say this has been one of the most even and unpredictable seasons that I can remember- and my deplorable tipping results can testify to that! So many close finishes and come from behind victories (even some pearlers involving the dees) - I've thoroughly enjoyed watching the footy this year. This year there doesn't seem to be any safe margin at any stage of the match.

He is a genuine weapon for us. Today was not his best game and he was still able to influence the contest. We are dangerous and unpredictable with the ball in hand.

Having never seen Hulett play, I would be interested in what others think of his prospects. Only 20, but doesn't sound like he's been close to selection this year. He was all the rage early last year but receives little to no coverage nowadays. Has he shown any signs that he could develop into a player? Even a rookie lost spot?
