  1. GWS = the first six swear words that pop into my head.
  2. I'm loving Goodwin's work, but a lot of the praise for the clubs physical style needs to go in the direction of Paul Roos. He, along with Taylor, Viney, Mahoney, etc have always said they were looking to bring in highly competitive and tough players to the club; we're seeing that now. While we have sometimes questioned the skill level of the players, their competitiveness has been visible over the last couple years, and they're now gaining the maturity and experience to know how to use it. Yesterday we played tough, brutal and at times nasty football. When we were tackling, marking, spoiling and smothering, we were trying to hurt them. Was great to see the aggression and the Bulldogs players were thinking twice about going for the ball. Our brand, while exciting and often attacking, is tough. That's what stands up in September.
  3. You all obviously have a much better eye for football than I do. Simply couldn't select a top six from today's match, let alone put them in order! Immense game!
  4. Keeps his upper body straight so it doesn't look like he's ducking, and then literally kneels down. Sicily does the same 'trick'.
  5. Don't think it is when you intentionally drop to your knees... thought that was one of the rules they've 'tweaked'.
  6. While he doesn't 'duck' per se, every time he takes possession he kneels down. It's absurd that he receives multiple free kicks every week for it. Got two or three against us last year and our guys really got stuck into him for it. Its difficult to see in live action as everyone's watching the ball, but clear as day on the replay.
  7. I think if we'd delisted him at the end of the season he'd be picked up by someone else pretty swiftly. Has looked good when fit this year.
  8. Form and fitness would also be a factor; he's had a long lay-off. Strikes me as a player who needs to be in top form to impact at AFL level and we saw that in the pre-season comp and the couple of matches he played before the injury. In addition, perhaps Goodwin is reluctant to mess with a winning formula.
  9. I agree it's usually weighted in favour of the destination, but most times there's a reasonable trade finalised.
  10. Who do we have on our list from SA? Trengove ANB Stretch Kennedy Vince Wold they consider a first rounder + ANB or Stretch?? Maybe not. First and second round pick?
  11. Racking my brain for the specific things he did wrong in the first half outside of the two poor kicks in the first quarter... (dare I say the first half of the first quarter)
  12. Played well today and gets judged much more harshly than others in the team. Got a lot of faith in O'Mac being a very good player for the club.
  13. Love the ABC commentary team. Cannot tollerate the egos and sensationalism of the commercial networks. Tried to listen to MMM recently and literally had no idea what was happening. In between the back slapping, innuendo and in-jokes they'd neglect to say who had the ball and where they were on the ground.
  14. Still a quality player with plenty to contribute. In a team such as ours, you get exposed when you're out of form. For the hawks he could be carried without the attention and scrutiny. He needs to work harder, but he's quite a ways off being dropped.
  15. Hunt is electric, such a weapon on that outer wing - beautiful to watch. Our forward entries in the first fifteen minutes were as though we were kicking to an imaginary power-forward. We corrected that and are looking a lot more dangerous. For all the hyperbole on the previous page, Oscar has settled well and repelled some late entries. It's a bit of a shoot out, so would like to see us tighten up a bit on our forward pressure - they're getting it out a little easily.
  16. Encouraged to hear the reports of the Weid's application and endeavour. That's all you can really ask of any young, developing player. If he keeps the work rate up, his form will turn around.
  17. Our players training for the week consisted solely of reading articles about how great they are.
  18. That's (one of the many) problems with SEN nowadays; it's become solely 'click-bait' journalism and reporting. Everything they do and say is so sensationalised and seeking to get a reaction from the listeners and readers that they erode any credibility they once might have had.
  19. Tippett has huge talent but he seems to be lumbering nowadays; feel he's past it. Rohan is 'Sam Blease if he'd been drafted by a better team'. Has speed but not the smarts to find enough of the ball. Reid is a gun. While he'd be pricey, I would take him in a heartbeat.
  20. After articles yesterday outlining a 'low' contract offer to Schache, coupled with constant stories about huge money being thrown at him by Victorian clubs, he's just re-signed for two years with Fitzroy. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-08/lions-coup-josh-schache-signs-new-deal Whilst this isn't MFC news, I must say I am glad to see that the Lions may have started turning a corner with their list. There's no benefit to competition in having a basket case (previously the Melbourne Football Club) being pillaged every trade week.
  21. If he retires, does he get paid out the final year of his contract? If not, why would he?
  22. Would be pretty poor form to delist a contracted player the year he does his acl...
  23. I don't think we've seen anything near AVB's best football. Hopefully he can be ready for day one of preseason because he could be a serious player with a bit more luck on his side.
  24. I think we've gone after Levi hard on at least two trade weeks in the last 6 years. I think Neeld was very keen on trying to get him over, and Pederson was a consolation prize. He's out of contract at the end of the year and, according to this article anyway, considers himself underpaid at Carlton: http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/carlton-forward-levi-casboult-has-resigned-with-the-blues-until-the-end-of-the-2017-season/news-story/078c1fbf91c12d0227943b29334916be
  25. I used to think this decision was a bit of a no-brainer, but the opportunities provided through the various 20/20 leagues around the world would be quite enticing for a talented footballer/cricketer.
