What, another dud from the E Coli wobblers? The list goes back a long way with the honorable exceptions of Coles, Moore, the Tall back Pocket who won a best and fairest but died of cancer a year later in the 70's, and Dawes.

I've watched the replay twice now as well: still get goose bumps and tingles. The bottom line is that they ALL put in, they ALL took the game right up to the umpire-pampered Hawks, they were relentless and strong. There have been whispers about Garlett's recent form on this site: he was fantastic on Saturday, did the not-noticed one per centers, especially in the first and last quarters. I thought he was great, ditto Vanderberg and Bugg. I've also noticed a subtle lift in Osca Mc's self confidence. And Wiedemann will be a player. It's the German genes, witness Neitz and Schwartz... -
The Hodge assault on Wingard and the fact that the AF(ucucking)L allowed him to get away with a 2 week suspension is proof that Hawthorn has become a Protected Species. After watching the replay I'm so proud of the Demon boys who took the crap from Hawthorn and blew it back in their faces. They did not shirk one issue (to coin a phrase). They stood up and gave it back - fairly, and on the scoreboard.
-
I thought Garlett was ok last week. He had a day when the bounces went askew, when he was ready willing and able he was overlooked. Don't be too harsh on the man, he has so much explosive capacity.

How many lousy games by Jobe Watson before he became adored? -
He's in for the Darwin Game. Great news: I've always rated him and he seems like an obvious addition of class and run to what has been quite a sieve like-defence.

The bottom line is that the team is now full of players deemed by the coaching staff to be the future of the Melbourne Football Club. I've got no problem with that. Also, bottom line, is that for the past 9 years there's been a rotation of players dropped and being replaced by stop gap players, too many to mention. In the end, I feel as sick as a dog looking at poor Jack Grimes because I know he's bled for us. I also know he's not the future of the footy club.

Don't you worry about Clarrie, he's as much of a gun as Petracca.

Good point!!

There were many exciting things about yesterday's win: Petracca Hogan Oscar Wagner Van den Berg becoming match fit Dawes!!!!! Kent Frost That's on top of Gawn, Jones, Viney, Vince, Tom,. And, there's Lumumba, Salem, Brayshaw and Garlett to come...

Melbourne to ditch Alice Springs game from next year?
dieter replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Of course they do. A Hawk will get a week for elbowing an opponent, a lower side will get two. That's f''''king fair! -
Poor Omac has copped more than enough abuse on this site. The bottom line is that MFC is seriously depleted down back, that we are NOT going to make the finals this year, that Oscar is a work in progress, that he shows enough to bear perseverance, and the more games he gets under his belt this year will 'hopefully' boost his confidence in himself and if any of you rabid posters have ever played the game, that element of self-confidence is half of what it takes. It does raise the question about the recruiting balance between midfielders, forwards and backs. Then again, we WERE such a friggin basket case that the recruiters had to start somewhere. The question of 'balance' is still in the balance. You can't have a team of just midfielders...

Rod Grinter on Open Mike Tuesday Night
dieter replied to The heart beats true's topic in Melbourne Demons
Grinter conducted himself with great dignity during Sheehan's grilling. All Sheehan seemed to want to talk about was Grinter's misdemeanors. Mike seems to forget that those were different days, they were the days when animals like Matthews, Scott, Dipper, Brereton and Wallis were free to biff and assault and punch and elbow opponents because 'it was part of the game' and because 'what happened on the field stayed on the field'. I wonder how Sheehan would interview thugs like Matthews and Brereton, whether the bulk of the interview would have centered on their king hits, assaults and general thuggery. -
You all forget the report that Viney was seen exiting a surgery last week, reportedly about a finger/hand issue. He told reporters it was okay, to forget about it. Any money he went into the game with the issue...

So many pessimistic bulldusters on this site. Get real how many of you ever got a kick or taken a mark or kicked a goal ( or a behind) ?

Sacre bleu, the negativity astounds me. We were always going to lose this game after a 6 day break. The boys are still learning the game. I agree we've got massive problems down back, problems only time, experience and wise recruitng will fix. The bottom line is that basket cases don't get fixed in 3 years, there's a lot of weeding, supplementing and experiments to go through. The d's are on the right track, fine tuning required but that doesn't come overnight. Witness Clarkson, Thompson, Matthews at Brisbane etc etc etc
