  1. Didn't Rabbi Groner call it Snuss, or something like that?
  2. That's because Herr Schwartz was an inmate at Salesian College Rupertswood. It's in Sunbury, there's a railway bridge which passes over a lake on the school grounds. Menscehn's kinder, now there was a footballer. And then there was Herr Nietz. man, I tell you, we Germans could have conquered the world.
  3. Thanks, guys. The links came up later and maybe the link doesn't want to work first thing in the morning...???
  4. I need help. I have subscribed to an afl pass, assuming I can watch replays. Last week I managed to get to the replay site, clicked on 'watch replay' for the Port versus Melbourne match, the first quarter played but when I clicked on 'watch replay' for any other quarter it defaulted to replaying the first quarter. Any suggestions from the Techno Buffs?
  5. Apparently so-called liberal pope Francis recently instructed american bishops to NOT go to the cops. Maybe we can deduce from this that there may be something intrinsically sick in all the Judeo Christian mythology. Or, are all Tribes intrinsically cloistered and insular and afraid of the 'other'? Whatever, I became a firm atheist when I was 14. It was a courageous decision in a Catholic school. I've remained one ever since. I truly believe all religions are invented by insecure people who are afraid of what they don't and can't know anything about, namely death
  6. I felt pretty sad for you when I read the above: it must have been tough to get through every day. I also admire that you've been able to articulate it. Hope things are okay for you now.
  7. I can't get myself to read the Sun, mainly because Bolt is bad for my blood pressure. I can imagine what he's saying about his dear innocent friend Pell, but what's the substance?
  8. As a survivor of Rupertswood I know how serious the topic is only too well. It wasn't a discussion on Hird nor the Israeli government, simply a banding together, in my post anyhow, of four people who are arguably criminals. What isn't arguable is that all of them put themselves above any law, above any sense of morality.
  9. Yes, Roos and company didn't seem too upset about it.
  10. I'd play either Ariel Sharon or Netanyahu on the wing. Great attacking players the lot of them, take no prisoners type, a bit of mongrel....
  11. The deluded, privileged clown wants us to believe that he was deaf to certain things which were talked about in the 70's and 80's, in direct contradiction to witnesses to the contrary. What is most scary is his assertion today that talk of Risdale rooting boys was not of interest to him. It kind of lines up with the so-called reformist Pope Francis who is quoted today as re-affirming that bishops sought to be exempt from reporting sexual abuse by priests to the police. A swell bunch, protecting a totally Ku Klux and Cargo Cult fanaticism called Roman Catholicism.
  12. Not sure that the flying dutchman Vandenberg would like being lumped with the krauts Wiedemann and Wagner. And how did Jack Frost get to Stalag 13?
  13. Just watched the replay. Didn't know the score till I got home at 7 o'clock last night. I am hugely impressed. They played good football, especially in the second half. Their skill levels were as good as their hunger. So impressed with Vandenberg, Hogan, Gawn, Kent and Viney. Oliver looks good too. I feel we're in for something good this year.
  14. I get the gist of what you're saying. It's just that the proportions of the atrocities are so absolutely lop-sided. Israel has the 3rd best equipped army and air force in the word, the Palestinians fire home made rockets.Just look at the disproportion of the deaths, the injuries, the crippling of infrastructure suffered by Gaza. We won't even talk about the bantusation of the West Bank, the high sea piracy - when the relief ship was attacked. So the Palestinians fire hand made rockets????? Hi Nutbean. I'm trying to reply to your last post but when I click on 'Quote' this keeps coming up. With all respect, I doubt there's any point in talking about this offline. Regarding the History of Israel and its policy of ethnic cleansing - witness Deir Yassin and the many other Palestinian villages wiped out by brutal Israeli policy - I take my cue from Ilan Pappe and Schlomo Sand. With regard to the lunatic behavior of clowns like Netahyahu, Sharon and his ilk, I take my cue from Norman Finklestein. With regard to the whole process of Israel being granted a slice of other peoples' land in the last act of European colonialism, I take my cue from Gilad Atzmon. The twain shall never meet. I've talked with many Jewish people about this topic and I've learnt that - especially when I speak with European Jews who were caught up in the unspeakable horrors of the Nazi times - there is an inpenetrable intransigence and a version of history which differs so far from real facts of history, E.G. Deir Yassin, that I concede it's useless to attempt to debate or discuss.Especially the likes of Austen Tayshus who just scream over the top of anybody who asks him to see the forest for the trees. Just last week three Israelis manning a stand that sells beauty products said to be based on sand from the Dead Sea in Northland asked me to show them where Palestine is. They brought up Google map on their iphones and challenged me to show them where Palestine is on the map. What is Palestine, they said. Indeed.

  16. I sell wine for a guy who was on North's list in Barassi's time. Many funny stories, most of them involving Crackers Keenan. He does point out that Barassi wouldn't get a gig as a coach these days because players wouldn't tolerate that ad hominem abuse. (My favourite Crackers story involves a Melbourne game against Richmond The umpire was about to bounce the ball to commence the second half. Instead of facing Crackers, McKellar was standing alongside him. Crackers said, "What! Is the mighty Craig McKellar afraid to face Crackers Keenan at a center bounce all of a sudden?" Greg Wells tapped Crackers on the shoulder and said, "We're kicking the other way this quarter, mate.")
  17. I came across one catholic recently who said the catholic church was being singled out. In other words, don't acknowledge the criminal and immoral behavior, throw the focus on the other. Which is similar to the ranting and posturing of Austen Tayshus and Julie Szego when they tell the world to turn a blind eye to the slaughter of Palestinians by Israel, saying Israel has been put under the spotlight unfairly because its critics aren't focusing on all the other atrocities in the world.
  18. No, Acland Street, round the corner from Claypots.
  19. When I worked in a bottle shop in St Kilda in early 2006 in came Ron Barassi. He was looking for a good bottle of plonk. He was humble, polite, a nice human being. When I told him I'd been a Demon supporter since 1958 he became very friendly. He talked up Melbourne's chances for the coming season. As he left the shop he turned around, gave a big smile, and said, Go Demons! ( I met David Neitz at the same shop. He was just as friendly and just as talkative. We share a kraut ancestry. Great player.)
  20. Yep. I was there when Maloney was the sportsmaster. I thought he was a good bloke because he didn't beat kids, none of the warm cuddly stuff either. And, he promoted me to the first eleven. Then he became the so-called Provincial and made the remark about priests being more credible than junkies. Unbelievable stuff.... '
  21. It's not only Pell: he's the mole on top of the molehill. There are the seriously demented salesians - my background - and the so f..c..ng called christian brothers. god spare me, god spare me from my wrath.
