  1. Hopefully with a large sign: 'Not Kosher Pork"
  2. Being a good back man is fine but when there's a turnover, which happens too often with young teams like the Demons, there are loose Bulldogs, Saints and Dons everywhere...
  3. Agree 100%. Like I say, Hawk forwards are covered. Fluck off this diamond shite
  4. I noticed that when the Hawks went forward every forward was covered. I think the diamond sucks. Any fast team will destroy us because of our shite disposal: even Essendon and St Kilda destroyed us.
  5. I played 3 games for Salesian College, Rupertswood, as a 6 foot ruckman in 1966 and played 2 seasons for Sunshine VFA under 16's as a Ruck/Wingman,. We played in a very rough and tumble lumpen prol western suburbs comp, more biff than class, as was the wont in the 60's, and one of my last games was against West Footscray opposed to Laurie Sandilands in a final. I kicked 2 goals, we lost, but I was nominated as one of the best players in the Sunshine Advocate.
  6. Sacre Blue, you aren't the grand handstander, the bane of Ron Barasssi's life, the thumper of Robbie, the alleged locker room thief at St Kilda, the victim who finally retaliated at the merciless Hawthorn snipers and caused poor Leigh to assault Bews?
  7. I could say Ron Barassi but I won't.What interests me is that some of the most astute and successful coaches haven't been great players. Clarkson was a thug and a battler, Tom Hafey was a battler, Luke Beveridge ditto. Sheedy was a full time thug, Malthouse was an honest toiler. Timmy Watson, James Hird, Voss, Schimilbusch, Hart, Primus, Buckley, (hey, thanks Eddie, baby,) Knights,Bourke, Bartlett etc were great footballers, lousy coaches... Then there were the greats like Barassi, Smith, Matthews (THUG), Blight, Alves and a few others who could do both. The name that rings my bells is Nathan Bassett,a dud at Melbourne, a star in hometown Adelaide.
  8. Just watched this segment for the second time. Melbourne was not mentioned again. It's as though these [censored] have as much amnesia about the Demons as the French have about their German ancestry, witness Charlemagne, alias Carl Der Grosse.
  9. If there's a problem with Oliver than the hit on Viney is a bigger issue. Both happened 'in play', neither was pre-meditated, unfortunately, it is a contact sport.
  10. This is a complex issue. Firstly, who were you going to drop after the previous 3 good displays? Secondly, we simply have to face the fact that our defence is now our achilles heel. Dunn's performances have exposed us big time. Oscar Mc is not ready, Garland and Grimes are now stop-gap. Time for radical moves. And, why the hell is the MFC selling a home game to Etihad? Is it a contractual thing? Makes no sense. In the end, I believe we should organise for a prominent terrorist organisation to bomb the place to oblivion. Do you have any connections with Mossad, Nutbean?
  11. Overall....St Kilda 12.13, Melbourne 12.4 for other 3 quarters. So you're right!
  12. The other point is that in past years the Demons would have been blasted off the park after the 3rd quarter. Melbourne actually outscored the Saints in the other 3 quarters.
  13. Full f...king forward, obviously. He knows where the goals are.
  14. From previous posts I understand that the Reverend Jack has form for doing the same thing himself. Can anyone verify that?
  15. Consider the Max at Max King's stage. Gawnie was a nowhere man.
  16. I recall buying this in mid 2009 after recovering from pulmonary embolism. I nearly fell out of my bed when I read that the mighty red head Norm was 57 when he died. I mentioned this to a contemporary Demon man, a man two years older, and he informed me that in those days most blokes died around the time they were 60.
  17. In an old style world where sentiment counted, I'd hang on to Grimes because of his qualities. Unfortunately AFL has passed him by. If, by chance the Demons are well on track for a finals berth you'd consider giving him 2 games as a reward for his great contribution, but the AFL is a different beast now.
  18. A real leader. He'd be my choice for captain till Viney is ready. Let Jones just play, that's what he's good at.
  19. Watched the replay this morning, a nice birthday present for yours truly. Richmond weren't that bad, we turned the ball over a lot - as usual - but the difference to yesterdays' sides, post 2006 anyway, is the sheer relentlessness of our attack. That and a confidence and 'attitude' that grows with every game. The clincher for the Demons now, and this makes them a very dangerous side, is the sheer talent on the forward line, a talent matched by hunger, skill and ferocity at the ball. The feeders, that is the mid field ain't half bad either.
  20. Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we Diet.
