  1. Good athlete, not much of a footballer, just wasn't up to the level.
  2. Pretty easy decision to stick by Toumpas, the best we'd get on the trade table is a 3rd round pick IMO.
  3. If you are drinking, perhaps I suggest that you stop?
  4. Treloar is a similar player to Anthony Miles. If Richmond were to pay overs for Treloar, we should ask the question to Miles. I think MIles is a decent player, you know exactly what you are going to get. He is hard nose, and Richmond might be open to trading him out in order to retain their 2016 first selection. Whether or not Miles is worth our first rounder is probably another question, I am unsure, that would be something we'd need to weigh up. I would say on last years form, he is worth our first rounder, but he has been a bit off this year.
  5. I agree, the horse has bolted. I thought we should've taken him. Demonland had us taking Hall, so there was quite a bit of disappointment around us letting him slide. I would be happy to trade into Hall, but I wouldn't pay overs for him. 3rd round tops for mine.
  6. Our youth is decent, we have good youth. Brayshaw, Hogan, Tyson, Viney and Salem are quality youth I don't believe we've had since Bruce/Green. So I think we are well placed in that regard, in that we actually have a decent core of kids. I think we are underachieving at the moment. But we need to continue to build on our youth. I would be inclined to go to the draft again, we have another early pick, and 2 possible picks inside the top 25 (along with a Howe trade). So I think we are building upon our youth. Our VFL side has improved, and this should assist in developing and fast tracking our kids.
  7. I wouldn't sell the house to retain Hogan (as some suggest we do). Instead, I would sell the house to get in Dangerfield, or a player of similar ilk - although there aren't many. The emphasis shouldn't be on Hogan as a savior, but instead, we should concentrate on building a side he wants to be a part of. Hogan isn't going to save the MFC, but a quality midfield supply, and Jesse Hogan, will go along way to improving this football club. If the club is considering locking Hogan in on a massive contract, then my advice would be not to. Instead, we should focus on scouting quality, elite midfielders. If we can do that, Jesse's decision to stay at this club won't be a hard one.
  8. I didn't see anything in Toumpas in the nationals. Others argue that he was dominant, I certainly didn't see that. What I did see was Ollie Wines tear it up, display all the qualities you would want in a midfielder. In the case of Toumpas, I just put it down to inadequate scouting, a lack of knowledge of what is required to succeed in an AFL environment. I don't begrudge our recruiters for not picking Stringer though, he was coming off a broken leg, and that alone is a setback. Hindsight is a wonderful thing is regards to Stringer, but overlooking Wines in favor of Toumpas was just a miserable failure, and was never going to end well.
  9. I think our best chance is to just hope that Goodwin is one of those good coaches. because I don't think Neeld was, and I don't think Roos is. In the case of Mark Neeld though, he actually set this club back, whereas Roos isn't setting us back, he just isn't a very good game day coach.
  10. He tipped Collingwood.
  11. So does Bartel, just keeps bombing it in. So does Mackie, just keeps bombing it out. Kelly looks slow. I haven't liked Stevie J's year, but he looks the best of that lot. I wouldn't retain any of them if I was Scott. Caddy is solely missed tonight.
  12. I agree. Cut him loose, have a second dip at the draft. Probably get a second round pick. There will be a very good player around that mark, there nearly always is. Fyfe, Rockliff, Parker, Sloane, Shuey, Touk Miller, Lewis Taylor, just some of the names taken outside of the first round. I like Lovell. I'd love to get that kid.
  13. That's true. Even a misogynist like myself can recognize that women's football is the best thing MFC has going for it. I hope we start investing heavily into it. If it works for MFC, then it should be explored to the highest possible degree. Also, what ever happened to our push into China? I thought that had merit as well.
  14. We did well with Kent and Viney in that draft. Considering where both were taken, I think we did well with those 2. In regards to Toumpas, I'd be keen to cut him loose for a second round pick. I think we could cash him in for a second round pick, use it on Lovell or Gresham, that would be the way to go.
  15. The players aren't responding to a bloke who is on 1.5 mil. Would they respond to a bloke who is on 500k. I don't know, but we'd save a mil, and they couldn't possibly do any worse than currently At the moment, the way I see it, we'd be better off putting a spare million into the women's side. That is the only thing we have going for us atm.
  16. I didn't watch today, but I did flick it on to see the score before half time. ANB had just gotten subbed on. Considering he'd only gotten subbed on before half time, he had reasonable stats the young kid, and scored plus 65 in supercoach. He is going to be a player, I am pretty excited about ANB.
  17. Yeah Kennedy can play, agree with Norm, he should be in our sights.
  18. In a heartbeat. If we could offload Toumpas for Redden, we'd be going well. Most likely we'd have to throw in a 3rd round pick - but they'd ask for our 2nd.
  19. Would be a good signing, but I think he'll end up at St Kilda.
  20. They received a first round pick for Franklin, and got Frawley through FA (for nothing more than cap space). Also, they have freed up cash they saved from the Buddy offer, now they are chasing another big name. Hawthorn are doing ok.
  21. The womens side is the best thing MFC has going for us atm.
  22. Redden would be good, but at what cost?
  23. Roos isn't above criticism, I agree. I look forward to Goodwin taking more control in 2016. I think Roos will do better work outside of the limelight. Paul Roos is still the best talent spotter in the business, and that is something that we've lacked. Paul Roos record is up there with Derick Hine and Stephen Wells. I think Roos will do his best work for this club, as a manager/recruiter/coaching mentor.
  24. It is a stupid idea and should be canned. There is no disgrace in saying "Look, I thought it was a good idea, I misjudged, it isn't practical, and business will resume as normal".
  25. Last night? Was this a special or something? I think I remember watching Footy Classified on Monday night.
