  1. Not a chance. Vince was sublime at Adelaide. He is a footballer's footballer. Melksham is just a limited footballer.
  2. I'd offer a 3rd round pick. Bird can play, and always looked well conditioned. At the very least he is a professional, could be a good replacement for Cross.
  3. No I think Freo just know that he is a massive risk. I don't think they are playing funny buggers. Bennell in WA is career ender.
  4. No. This is Ross Lyons last ditch effort for a flag, beyond next year he'll be under pressure to manage the list for the future. Bennell makes sense for Ross, but it is a big gamble. Its going to be hard for Bennell to avoid Mandurah. The move back to WA isn't smart move by any means.
  5. Bennells career is done. Its finished. He needed to reside in Melbourne.
  6. Its not just the lack of speed, but he also needs to find more aggression. Hopefully his lack of speed can be put down to his injury. Also, I think motivational factors (proving doubters wrong) can translate into a more aggression - I know that has worked for Cotchin (Trengove is a similar guy).
  7. I think he'll be a good player, he is only 22. I thought he had a reasonable year - especially the start of the year. There are a few flaws in his game, but they are only minor flaws, and should naturally improve with experience. I hope we land him, Adelaide will want our second rounder.
  8. I disagree, I think Skinner is very gifted. I don't think he is a pinch hit ruckman either. He'll play a role off of a flank (forward/back), the kid has a lot of ability. If he didn't do an ACL he would be going a lot higher.
  9. No mention of Parker.
  10. I think you mean Kennedy.
  11. Perhaps we are looking to rookie an Indian or something.
  12. I wonder if GC would be prepared to give up their compo pick. I think it around 20.
  13. Yeah, it isn't a good idea. Poor trading IMO.
  14. That being said, performance wise, he is still in GC's top 3 players. If he is facing obstacles in his life, he is then performing under adversity, is that not also a good trait to have? I have been against taking Bennell all along - especially when most were singing his praises, but now I am starting to warm to him. If his asking price is dropping, then we should be persuading him to make the move.
  15. Yeah, he can seriously play. Kennedy would be a great pick up. I know a lot of people are skeptical about him, but he can find the pill. He is similar to Viney. I think Kennedy is massively underrated, he would be a great pick up, and I think he will have an immediate impact.
  16. If we can keep Howe for the right price, then I think that is the best result. He can play, and we'd only get a second round pick for him.
  17. Does anyone know if we are still in the running for Bennell? If his asking price drops any lower, we'd have to be asking some questions.
  18. Silly move. And it is shame, Bennell is a special talent, a very special talent. But he was playing up prior to being drafted, I don't think WA is a good fit for him.
  19. I don't think Toumpas will make it. Mentally he looks fragile, he always panics and he looks weak. He doesn't put enough air in his handballs, and regularly turns them over. I don't see him performing on the inside, and he looks sluggish on the outside. He is a good user of the football, but that should be minimum standard anyway. I would offload Toumpas for a bag of chips if I could, never have I been more certain of a player not making the grade.
  20. Frawley played well, but any reasonable player can jump ship for glory. I don't rate it in country footy, and I don't rate it in the AFL. It is the easy way out. That isn't what I believe football is all about.
  21. Yep, if we'd of nailed our picks we would be in the frame. Shocking drafting by MFC. We have a got a few right the past few years though. Hopefully we get our chance oneday,
  22. One of the absolute greats. 2 brownlows and even underrated for mine. It is a shame he declined the 'lap of honour', but he will be remembered as a champion of the game. Possibly the most versatile footballer to ever play the game. Dominated games out of the ruck and as a midfielder, doesn't get much better than that.
  23. Mathieson would be a great fit for them. He would make an immediate impact IMO. St Kilda know they have Billings coming back in next year, if they can find another ready made midfielder - I think they can make an impact. St Kilda are 2 key forwards better off this year, they have Bruce and McCartin. Also, they have Goddard down back. Mathieson fills a need, a young, contested ball winner. St Kilda would be silly to overlook him IMO. As much as I like Francis, a safer bet would be a contested mid.
  24. Only the top 2 are certain. Outside of that it is speculation.
