We can get him to start work at the Caulfield redevelopment.

We had a strong Casey side with experienced Casey affiliated players and developing young Melbourne players. Those Casey players are leaving the club, and we are left with rejects from other clubs who didn't see themselves as VFL players when we courted them. I'm sure Tom Campbell will be good at Casey, but why not go for a mature aged state league ruckman with 5-7 years ahead of him, and a hunger to become an AFL player.

Well said. We don't need club officials coming out and saying "We love Clarry". Clubs and players need to be more mature about what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to trades. And it's a two way street. The reality is that if Richmond or North had shown interest, and were prepared to offer a fair trade, then the club would have been happy to trade him. Once Geelong became the only suitor, a trade was never going to get done. Lamb and co. can deny that Oliver was "shopped around", but we wouldn't have 100 pages of "Oliver trade rumours" if he wasn't. It's naive for people on here to think that it was a media beat up.

They are not depth players if they can't play a role at AFL level, or aren't good enough to be selected. Meanwhile other clubs are picking up quality kids with equivalent picks, or recruiting players that fulfill a need.

It's the same person/people who re-signed Schache for another year. However, according to many on here the decisions were justifiable because Fullarton and Schache were cheap depth, lol. Hopefully the football department review weeds out the incompetent decision makers from the past 3 years.

100%. There are people on here that think we are the only team that has injuries. Carlton had a far worse run with injuries, but still made the 8. We got beaten by an Eagles side without Yeo and Allen. And we can't use an injury to Gawn as an excuse when the club didn't bother recruiting a backup.

The CEO and the Board. This is just my take, but I think that Lamb knows that his position is tenuous. Maybe he's just trying to save face by distancing himself from the Petracca and Oliver debacle, by saying that all List Managment decisions are made by a collective. I think the review will see Lamb and Richardson moved on.

That was cringeworthy. I thought I was listening to Humphrey Appleby from Yes Minister. And why would he even need to say that the List Management team were united? United against whom?

Sam McClure "Breaking news. Kozzy has been granted his wish to be closer to family, and has been traded to the Perth Demons".

I look at it as a bonus that Lamb isn't stuffing up our list this year with aging rejects from other clubs. I'm not saying Derksen is a reject because GWS clearly want to keep him. And he's young enough to have upside. The trade period is still early, so Lamb has plenty of time to stuff things up.

We had list spots available for Billings, Fullarton, McAdam, Schache and Hore. We had no intention to use those picks because we recruited list cloggers from other clubs. And I've already listed players taken around and after those picks. Plus there are numerous who have debuted and shown promise like McAuliffe, Freijah and Roberts. Calsher Dear was taken F/S with pick 56. If we bid with pick 27, would the Hawks have matched?
  12. mo64 replied to Colm's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
It really worked out well for us last year, lol. We traded picks 14, 27 and 35 to get pick 11. Don't get me wrong, I like Tholstrup, but we could have got Darcy Wilson, Logan Morris, Shaun Mannagh, Lawson Humphries or Sam Clohessy with later picks. Instead we topped up our list with recycled hacks after re-signing Schache. I have no faith in our list management.

We are crying out for a 2nd ruck/forward to relieve JVR of ruck duties, as well as a backup ruckman who is happy to toil in the 2's.

Maybe we should start a new thread on it. 🤔

We've already done it with Jesse Hogan. Worked out well for us because we ended up with May. Didn't work out well for Freo because obviously the issues that he had with us didn't disappear. He only turned things around at GWS.

Goodwin may not have been happy with the prospect of losing Oliver, but of course he knew that we put him on the trade table.
  17. mo64 replied to Oxdee's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
If you are referring to Oliver, he's 27 for christ's sake.
  18. No offence Tom, but I hope you don't play a game for the Dees, because that would mean that Max is out injured. Aside from that, I wish you a long and prosperous career at the club.
  19. mo64 replied to Oxdee's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Great summation. If we were not prepared to trade Oliver at any cost, then we should have set a price when we put him on the market. If we stipulated what the bare minimum compo would be, and there was no interest, then things could have been nipped in the bud before Oliver met with the Cats. With the way things have transpired, Oliver's position at the club was untenable only at the right price. Crazy!!!!
  20. He'll be lucky to be in a job after the Football Dept review.
  21. mo64 replied to Oxdee's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm sure the Cats' broom is large enough to sweep things under the rug, and the Geelong Advertiser isn't going to lag on one of their boys.

Just tell him that the drinks are free, and he wouldn't miss it for the world.
  23. mo64 replied to Oxdee's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
There are recalcitrants who's off-field antics brought shame on themselves, but didn't impact their teammates. Stengle and DeGoey come to mind. But from what we are hearing, Oliver's actions has impacted the playing group. And the standards set for Oliver isn't the same as the rest of the team. You can't have that in a club.
  24. Goody's "allies" moving on is a good thing in my opinion. We need fresh faces who will challenge Goodwin and the Football Department. And who knows whether Plunkett and Stafford left on their own accord, or whether they were given the tap on the shoulder, and resigned to save face.

They did give us Nigel Kol. Maybe they'll include his twin brother Michael as part of the trade.
