The List Manager Tim Lamb
And Taylor isn't watching Dunstan, Grundy, Hunter, Billings, Schache, Fullarton, McAdam playing for their respective AFL clubs. These players are known AFL commodities, and have been the biggest problem with our recruiting. Lamb would be more involved with their acquisitions than Taylor. And I fear that we'll be talking about Mihocek in the same light.

The List Manager Tim Lamb
So who's role is it to coordinate all the scouts around the country? And do you seriously think that JT is talking to player managers from other clubs? The coaches would be well aware of the capabilities of players on other lists. The ins and outs of contracts would fall under Lamb. Do you think that Lamb spends all year just updating his salary cap spreadsheet?

The List Manager Tim Lamb
JT's role involves monitoring players who are not on AFL lists. He's not attending AFL games, and speaking with player managers to determine who is gettable. That is Tim Lamb's role. In order to recruit a player from another club, you would need to know their salary demands and how it would need to be structured to fit in our cap. Once again, that is Tim Lamb's role. Sure, Lamb wouldn't be working alone, but recruits from other clubs comes under his role, not JT.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
When the President, CEO and coach all get the sack, then the AFL media will see the club as a basket case. Let's hope that we can turn things round quickly like the Pies did after the same things happened to them. The media saw them as a basket case when they had a fire sale of players, and they missed out on Voss as their first choice as coach. They won a flag 2 years later.

Your commentary is the exact reason why club's occasionally leak stories. The club want to be portrayed as the innocent party in the eyes of supporters, sponsors, etc. There's a fair chance that Trac and Judd want to leave due to personal reasons involving someone still at the club. Their side of the story will probably never come out, because players don't want to get involved in a slanging match with their former club. So in the case of Judd, the narrative is that he wants to play a different role. And we've yet to hear from Trac because there is a real possibility that a trade doesn't get done, and he remains at the club.

@Dannyz relayed info about a conversation last week had between Steven King and Judd McVee. By your reckoning, Judd relayed the details of the convo to Trac, who in turn passed it onto Dannyz, lol. Certain Demonland posters have been getting reliable info from within the club for years. Some people have a fixation with Tom Morris, who is just a journalist doing his job. To suggest that Trac is Tom Morris' source is beyond ridiculous. There is clearly a leak within the football department. Given the mass turnover of staff, it narrows down to a select few.

Trade Targets
Both Richmond and Hawthorn won 3 flags during their run, so if you are a supporter of either club, falling in a hole isn't the end of the world. Both clubs lost key players during their run, but successfully topped up and regenerated. Hawthorn have quickly reemerged, and let's see how Richmond go with a ton of young talent under Yze. Yes, we only lost Jackson, but we wasted a season on the Grundy experiment. Unquestionably we've blown our premiership window.

The List Manager Tim Lamb
You can argue that our young forwards have some potential, but you can't argue that Tim Lamb/the club have questionable judgement when assessing players that have been in the league more than 2 years. Our recruitment from other clubs over the past 3 years has been a disaster. Who was proven right with the Grundy trade? Those on here who questioned his fit in the team or the club. It's no different to fans questioning Goodwin's game plan, and Demonland happy clappers using the argument that they know more than you, so shut up. Based on his track record, I take what Tim Lamb has to say with a grain of salt.
-
Trade Targets
There's been two reasons why. Our club culture since winning the flag, and the players we've recruited from other clubs have all been busts.
-
Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
Here we go. Demonland is true to form. Pages and pages of vitriol to one of the club's greatest players. Especially the happy clappers who always think everything is rosey at the club. Then when a player wants to leave, they turn on the player. For Petracca wanting to leave, then that's on the club. Our culture was putrid. Unless we get the right deal, hold him to his contract. But I have no faith in Tim Lamb, so I can see us getting screwed over by the Crows. If Trac leaves, he'll be remembered as a key part of the only flag in my lifetime.

We haven't been able to attract a decent free agent when we were premiership contenders. Why would the likes of Butters or King want to join us, especially if we let Trac break his contract?

Farewell Judd McVee
If that's the case, thanks but no thanks Brodie Mihocek.

Farewell Judd McVee
I agree that the positional thing sounds like a furphy. But I can't imagine a young player sharing his true motivation for leaving with someone he barely knows, and has only been in the door 5 minutes. People need to stop portraying McVee as an egotist with tickets on himself. As I said, you must be getting information from within the Football Department, of which only 2 or 3 are still left, and would be privy to such information. Maybe your source is trying to save face by portraying McVee as the bad guy.

Farewell Judd McVee
@Dannyz Are you aware of the contract details as to what we offered in dollar terms compared to Freo? The points you have made about our dealings with Judd clearly haven't come from the new coach, who's only recently arrived and has been busy in the past week with GF duties at Geelong. And I'd be staggered if he has promised any player a defined role next year without knowing the composition of our list, as the trade period hasn't begun. Judd might have been told what role they see for him, but promises can't be made. I can only deduce that you have a contact within the List Management team. And their take on the situation comes across as bitter and twisted. They expect players to leave their club to join us, so the opposite should ring true.
-
Farewell Judd McVee
Clubs often will offer a player extended years at a lesser dollar value per annum. The longer contract gives the player job security, but it also benefits the club because the salary cap is always increasing. Judd is within his rights to value his ability to outperform the 4 year contract we offered. Without knowing the actual dollar terms, there is nothing treasonous in Judd and his management knocking back our 4 year contract offer. He clearly had suitors offering him a better deal.
-
Sam Flanders
But he's not an upgrade on Trac if he leaves. And no way are Freo doing that deal.
-
Farewell Judd McVee
That's what I said about Spargo leaving and got howled down. Demonland double standards at it's finest. I wish Judd all the best at Freo.
-
Farewell Judd McVee
Can someone explain how Judd has taken the MFC for a ride? He's made a decision to leave before the trade period, so it's not like he's nominating for the PSD. It makes me laugh that posters think he should be open to go to either WA club so that we get the best deal. And don't get me started on posters who believe that they were lied to. I don't believe for one minute that a player would tell a supporter that they had signed before any official announcement had been made. And the longer a player holds off signing, the more likely they are to leave. Judd's decision to leave has nothing to do with King or the role he wants to play. Freo have probably offered a bigger contract, or Judd is sick of being pestered by annoying supporters, lol.

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
There's key forwards and there's key forwards. Richmond, Geelong and now Brisbane got or are getting top line KF's who are in their prime (Lynch, Cameron, and Allen). Mihocek would have been a good pick up 3 years ago. If we were contending next year, I don't mind him if it was a 2 year deal. But if the club is ok with trading Trac for draft picks, then we don't see ourselves as contending next year.
-
Sam Flanders
So if Ross is saying "we're", then he's referring to the Saints. And I somehow doubt that any coach would say that another club is a front runner when the player hasn't nominated a club.
-
Sam Flanders
So the average footy supporter that said that Grundy was a bad fit for us was clueless? Same goes for those that wanted Roffey, Pert and Goody ousted before it happened? Lamb may not be solely involved in luring players from other clubs and trading picks, but as the list manager he is involved in all these decisions.
-
Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
If you are referring to Tim Lamb, you are 100% correct. And it's fair to say that the fans could have done a better job evaluating a fair trade over the past 4 years than our list manager.
-
Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
If Petracca wants to leave, then we should stipulate to his management what are our minimum requirements. We then let his management do the negotiating with other clubs. If they can't meet our requirements, we hold him to his contract. At least we save face with Trac, because we value him more than his suitors. Under no circumstances should we let him go to "the best offer".
