To be honest, our depth is so poor, we are in no position to be pensioning off the likes of Melksham and T Mac. It's not a slight on these two, but we have noone coming through the ranks to challenge them for a place in the team. It was a no brainer that Melksham and T Mac would be given another year.

List management 101. Replace players who we deemed as flawed and no longer required, with like for like. And we don't need key forward list cloggers like Taberner. We need to see what Jefferson and Fullerton can do.
-
Taberner and Ross are both 31. I'd rather go for the best state league talent with a hunger to succeed than washed up players like these 2.

`Malcolm Speed was able to shed light on the legal proceedings the club has been involved with. Since neither parties are allowed to comment on proceedings, there has been a lot of misinformation and guesswork by some on Demonland. It was nice to get a clear picture.

You'd imagine that Cerra is on good coin so his trade value is diminished even further. I wouldn't even entertain a future 1st for him.

Speed said that the review shouldn't be made public because it could damage people's reputation. But if changes are made as a result of a review, then any person that loses their job ultimately has their reputation damaged. I think the point he was making is that the review should be brutally honest, regardless of whether wholesale changes occur. For instance, Goodwin could survive the review, but still have brutal feedback conveyed to him without it being public knowledge.
-
You are kidding. Who do we have as midfielders who can as an inside or outside mid? He's far better than Hunter and Billings.
-
Jordon was a permanent fixture in our premiership year until he got injured. He was underrated by many on Demonland.
-
Cheap depth over the past 3 years has only brought us list cloggers, and actually destroyed our depth. We need to stop this nonsense. Either recruit players who we rate as top 20 on our list or go to the draft with our picks.
-
Dees supporters don't have time for social media because they spend all their time on Demonland.
-
That's exactly what I'm inferring. Either senior people at the club were ignorant of our deeper problems, or were trying to hide them under the carpet and hoped it went away. It's incompetence regardless. Trac is the wrong person being vilified imo.
-
The club has been "on the nose" long before that, both on and off the field. From my own point of view, I "unfollowed" our IG becuase the info was either outdated or irrelevant by the time I looked at it. I don't use IG as a source for football info. And I'm an old fuddy duddy, so don't care about fluff pieces.
-
If that is the case then I'd want a cleanout of senior positions from top to bottom. Roffey has gone, and Pert and Richardson should be next.

Whilst it's not ideal with trade week less than a month away, we can't allow another year to go by without some changes to the Football Department. Brad Green's call for an external review makes me think that there are board members that weren't aligned with the thinking of the Football Department, and that has led to Roffey resigning. It's just my opinion, but I can see Tim Lamb and Alan Richardson being the primary casualties of the review, and Jason Taylor taking on the list management duties in the interim. In addition to Stafford leaving, there may be changes to the assistant coaches, and potentially the high performance team. I can't see Goodwin getting the sack.
-
You've missed my point. I'm all for recruiting players from the VFL, but not for the reasons you posted. Any recruit should be capable of challenging for senior selection and not be "affordable depth" or "handy at Casey" as you stated.
-
This has no relevance to the discussion at hand. Players have all sorts of duties that they are expected to perform outside of the playing arena, which aren't written in their contract. Some players may go above and beyond that, others may choose not to. If Petracca is in the latter group, it doesn't justify being vilified by what may amount to .01% of our supporter group. And we're not talking about kids here.
-
This comment frustrates me no end with our supporters. When Roos took over as coach, I attended preseason training at Gosch's Paddock regularly. In the rehab group were Vince, Howe and Watts. Vince and Howe were just running laps whilst training was in progress. A group of supporters sitting near me were calling out to them to come over. Vince and Howe ignored them. Vince left the track with what looked like a hammy, whilst Howe got berated by the supporters for ignoring them and they called him a snob to his face. Meanwhile Jack Watts was on the other side of the ground chatting to supporters whilst training was still in progress. It's not surprising which players fulfilled their potential. And BTW, these supporters weren't kids. Some supporters believe that the players should give them their undivided attention 24/7.

Why do people keep bringing up players who could provide depth or be handy at Casey? If a player is mature aged, they should be competing for a place in the seniors. The standout VFL players in 2023 to be drafted were Mannagh and Clohessy. Both have established themselves in the best 23 at their respective clubs. And Mannagh had a huge impact in a final. That's the sort of player we should be targeting.
-
I'm not aware of Brad Green's attitude to lockdowns, but what relevance does it have as a board member or acting president? I suspect your question is politically motivated. Do you have to be a card carrying unionist?
-
I agree that a review of the board needs to be independent. But if we have some changes to the board (Stephen Smith as President), then the board should review the Football Department and Administration. I previously had the view that the review of the FD should be independent, because I feared that Roffey was too close to Pert and Goodwin. Now that she's gone, I'd be comfortable with a review being undertaken by the board if it was overseen by Stephen Smith.
-
And Butterrs is as tough as you get.
-
What was Alan Richardson's record as a coach? For the reasons QD stated, Hinkley would be a good candidate as the Head of Football.
-
Not a bad suggestion. The Football Dept. definitely needs to be reviewed in light of our player issues and poor trading over the past 3 years. And what's more concerning is Alan Richardson coming out and saying we need to get older not younger. I fear we may fall off the precipice very quickly with the current regime.

Who posted it has everything to do with it. If Nudge from times past posted it, along with the dozen other trade rumours that he had, then by all means shout him down. But @goodwindees has a good track record. It's naive of supporters to not think that there is wheeling and dealing done by the clubs behind a players back. If @goodwindees had posted that player x from another club is being shopped around, would you have the same objection?

Just as I don't believe that Houston moves the needle for us, I feel the same about him at the Saints. They already have Sinclair and Wanganeen-Milera who can play the same role at the same level as Houston. They've recruited a couple of guns in the past 2 drafts in Phillipou and Wilson. They need to continue down that path. Houston may want more game time as a mid, but he doesn't have a track record as one to justify giving up 2 1st round picks for him.
