WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is nothing I have seen that makes me sure that O'Rourke or Toumpas will be better than Viney. Watch the finals and work out who you would want to be in the trenches with when we rise as a finals contender. If we need to take him at 3 we take him as he is worthy of that pick but fingers crossed they dont nominate and we score him in the second round. -
Gysberts is in contract, any trade will in the coaches minds be in our favour. I like what he does when he gets to the contest, the issue is he cant get to enough contests. I am happy if he stays but will not mind if we use him to obtain what we are after. Rivers played some good roles this year and would be good mature filler in a variety of positions. I would not however have him as first or second choice in any of them. Again happy if he stays understand if he walks.

Pav kicked 6 interstate last night from 47 inside 50's carving up a backline with a potential 2012 AA backman and 2 previous AA backmen one allegedly the best full back of the modern era. Pav kicked 2 on Frawley last week at home from 60 inside 50's. Whilst limited rebound in 2012 Frawley was rarely beaten all year under immense fire.

Aaron Davey reconsidering his position at Melbourne
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Brayshaw Self's topic in Melbourne Demons
The assumption that we are throwing these players out and being disrespectful is a joke. Do you think Aaron thinks his season was what we expect from a senior player? Respect would be the frank conversation where Davey would have been advised that his body and form of this season would see him languishing at Casey all of 2013. This is not throwing them out this is being honest. Davey has provided many fantastic MFC memories but you need to know when your time is up. -
I stopped reading here.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SHANNON BYRNES
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Pates's topic in Melbourne Demons
Comes from a strong culture. Is a mature body with speed, can find the ball and kick a goal. Fills a need. It makes me laugh the same people who think players like Petterd should be retained unless we get a mid-high draft pick turn their nose at more accomplished players like Byrnes who we get for nothing. FA is more about filling needs with no cost but salary rather than uncovering superstars for a club like ours. -
Aaron Davey reconsidering his position at Melbourne
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Brayshaw Self's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love how all these cases are positioned that players are walking out on the MFC when in fact its more they have been told some hard truths. -
I watched my Auntie buy 5 raffle tickets from Dudley every week we went to the footy as far back as I can remember. I am pretty sure we have a signed footy from a mid 80's MFC team somewhere. Almost as many wins as the Dee's them selves. RIP Dudley

He is the type we should target. Would fit a clear role that we have a need for. Still good football years left in him. Has shown he can play but has lost his way.
-
Still young, good kick and works hard on the lead but I wouldn't call him a small forward. Of the 18 odd goals he kicked this year most are on the lead. If its 4 years shows how hard we are having to push for FA.
-
The number will grow because they are rubbish. I have watched for too long that we have held onto players that aren't quite up to it or they'll soon click and learn work ethic or play for the team. I note that Adelaide made 10 changes to their primary list last year as well as delisting 3 rookies. What affect has that had on the Crows this year?
-
Money, opportunity and and easier path to get to us is all we offer.
-
The three players who have departed played 28 games between them in 2012 and I would say only 25% had any positive impact on the contest. Losing these three will not set us back from this year.

Free Agents 2013 ... Latest News
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its not about having a player that does 28+ its about having 4-5 players that do 23+. Thats what Collingwood, Adelaide, Hawthorn and Geelong do. -
There is a reason why players putting team first and saying they are not right to play in finals are applauded. It is one thing to carry injury or illness it is another thing to be so ill that you cannot touch the ball in a half of footy. One is courageous the other is selfish stupidity.

No change. Tynan the sub. 1 hour before game and 5 posts in the game day thread shows that this has been a long season.

Jack Darling ... Why? Oh Why? Oh Why?
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
My point is we only look at things in isolation. For all the bitching about missing Darling no one goes on about taking Howe and McDonald which if I had my choice I would take our three over theirs. For all we know we take a 190cm lead up forward in Darling instead of Cook we then choose not to take Howe. Perfect world get them all right but looking at the overall rather than drooling over what West Coast got doesn't hurt either.
