  1. You can also argue that people who come to work sick are selfish and not really playing for the team.
  2. Agree that Cook over Darling is a confirmed judgment error. However I wonder how many would take Cook, Howe and Tom McDonald as a bundle over Darling, Lycett and Brennan in that draft?
  3. Gumbleton is behind Hurley, Ryder and Crameri in their plans and that is without considering Daniher coming in next year. If he is out of contract would not cost the earth and can play if he can stay on the park. Would be a gamble I would understand at the right price. The out of contract mature we should have as a priority is Dal Santo. Our focus should be fringe mature ball carriers that can kick Xavier Ellis, Clinton Young, Jordan Russell, Nick Suban. If we look at more fringe inside mids then I would look at Greenwood, Ellard and Stevens.
  4. Stating Moloney is a good player proves to me you've lost your way. If someone can highlight to me games in the last 3 years where he has played well against well credentialled sides. He is a slow, one way, one dimension player, with no defensive game and a long but ineffective kick. He has been shown up by a game plan that doesn't reward just the number of possessions that you get. I would be aghast if we attempted to retain him to compete with other offers. Will be a second string mature mid for the right side but not ours.
  5. Did you see us get smashed in the ruck on Sunday?
  6. All you have done is throw up a bunch of names without showing relevance to the players in the missed list. You have also looked at it from a worst case perspective. For example We missed out on Riewoldt because we chose Frawley. I would still take Chip regardless of the quality of Jack. Instead of Mclean (Gysberts) and Sylvia we could have taken any of Farren Ray, Kepler Bradley, Kane Tenace, Raph Clarke, David Trotter or Ryley Dunn who were the next 5 chosen. The 5 after Dunn were Pattison, McQualter, Wood, Willits, Polo, Would you give up Nathan Jones for Birchall, Hurn, Varcoe or Douglas? Granted they are quality but I dont think I would trade him for any of them. For the team you say we missed I could give you a team of players you would be ecstatic we missed instead. We have made some poor choices but so have every club. You could argue the flag favourites in Hawthorn have missed more with first round picks than most.
  7. You should remember games better. I'll give Franklin in NAB Cup but Brown kicked his first two on Watts, Stuart kicked 3 on T-Mac. He didn't play on Darling. So that leaves him with 2 of the 3 leaders of the Coleman who kicked 8 goals between them. Yep crap year.
  8. Would say Harley Bennell and Lewis Jetta are similar players to Jack?
  9. Players of similar style on their third year. Bartel (21 poss), Swan (16 poss), Hayes (15 poss)
  10. Who has beaten him this year? No rose coloured glasses just looking for some facts instead of the usual rubbish people sprout.
  11. Is he slower this year than when he was drafted? Find me a post where people talked about how slow he was last year. You dont suddenly lose pace at 21.
  12. Go and check how many disposals per game the players you mention averaged in their third year. You can then remove your foot from your mouth.
  13. We played on heart for the first half and then played like a bottom four side playing a top four side. Oh wait thats what it was. Get a grip people.
  14. Lets ignore the fact that he has obviously carried most of the year and is third for disposals and as far as I understand leads our defensive acts but clearly one of our worst this season.
  15. That is the first time Frawley has been beaten all year. Agree though his run and disposal has not been his usual output. He has looked hampered for most of the second half of the year. Cant jump or accelerate so keen to see whether he has any post season op.
  16. Jerry you are missing the point. No one is saying elite talent doesn't come outside the early picks. However you are more likely to get elite talent if you have more first round picks than not. Particularly if you have our track record of not developing elite talent.
  17. No late changes. Jetta the sub.
  18. I can understand the reasoning regarding a slightly higher pick however to lose an extra elite selection if Viney is taken first rather than second round could be the difference between us landing an elite player or not. As you have highlighted we dont have a good track record so Viney plus 2 picks in the first round vs Viney plus 3 in the first round could be the difference. High selections dont guarantee elite talent but they certainly improve your chances. To be clear I will enjoy a win today if it occurs and I dont want to see us tank but I would prefer a hard fought loss rather than go ahead of the dogs. I also look forward to never having to think this way again after this season.
  19. Greens last, Chips 100th, players playing for their careers, Adelaide's poor MCG record and Neil Craig in our coaches box. Nope, nothing to worry about here.
  20. You have highlighted the exact reason why we need to maximise the numbers of shots we have at the target. I find this contradicts your argument.
  21. Lucky we have a coach that should be in a good place to make a judgement.
  22. Has Wellingham signed yet?
  23. That is cracking news. Well done Sam.
  24.
