I saw more in Toumpas than I saw in Whitfield. Seems like a nice balanced player with good endurance in the same way as Gibbs, Ellis, Morton were seen as juniors. They rarely end up the best from their draft. Although most have said Whitfield is a lay down for number 1 I wonder if there will be a twist at some point with Toumpas or Grundy.

His manager will only want to sign him for 2. He is a player whose value in 2 years could be very hard to guage now. The most pleasing part of the interview is the mention of the extra work he is doing in preparation for next pre-season. This is the comments that the good teams make and is starting to be heard more and more in MFC interviews.

Tom Mac - better year than Frawley

Pavlich kicked 4 on him at Etihad from 57 inside 50's. I think its the only time he has lowered his colours and even that could be debated. -

Can someone tell me who has beaten Frawley this year? I would call beating him kicking 4+ on him? -

Yes I noted that as well. It is good to see he listens. He is never going to be a naturally defensive player but with 2 more preseason he will be that good that it wont matter.

Good post. It would be interesting to look at this for equivalent games over the last 4-6 weeks.

Contract discussions put on hold for eleven Demons

Where does Rivers play next year? Is he in your starting 18? He is good and gives his all but does not have a defined role. He does not have the size or speed to be a stopper and does not have the mobility or skills to be offensive. I am not saying get rid of him but he is not a necessary keep. -

The wooden spoon could seriously be ours
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pates about time someone talked sense. The poor year affects this years revenue and potentially signature of sponsors or players for next year. The people that [censored] and moan they are sick of it will be back on board after a key signing or some early promise next year. This year has no impact on memberships for the future. -

GWS 41 points up now only lead by 8 points. No Sheedy doesn't believe in tanking. -
I tend to agree. Ins of players with upside like Gysberts, Strauss and Tapscott certainly feels better than when the Ins read, Bate, Petterd, Dunn

Am I the only one that has a feeling that Roos angst towards Melbourne has more to do with us giving his team the best pantsing the Bloods copped during his reign rather than tanking or any other matter.

The Nathan Jones Appreciation thread.....
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to cowboy_from_hell's topic in Melbourne Demons
A group of us were discussing this yesterday (MFC and non MFC supporters) and general consensus was he is now definitely in that category. Even his quiet games now have impact. He has learn to play to his strengths and improved those areas that were deficiencies in his game. He is now very much a well rounded midfielder who has been improving year on year but I believe has thrived under the elite standards motto of camp Neeld/Craig. -
It's just rubbish to watch and will cost us members
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Did you see Cook play yesterday and you want him played in the seniors? Did we not partly get into this by "getting games into kids"? Hawthorn were fantastic and played like a mature bodied side who have been learning a game style for some time. -
The list - who goes at the end of the year?
Lil_red_fire_engine replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
This may already be later in this thread but would be keen to see what you thought if you watched Casey. I understand that talls take time but he is eternally slow and shows little if any chance of being a decent AFL player. I will not care if he stays or goes. I am amazed that we took him at pick 12 but at least can accept that we lucked it with Howe and T-Mac later in the draft which balances the order of things. -

You say all you hear is excuses. All you're providing is a different excuse in the coach. I dont want to win. I want to win a premiership. Lets go your way and just work with the rubbish that Neeld has been dealt up and see how far that takes us. We had a coach that said it was just a matter of time get games into the kids. I am actually happy we have a coach that is on the reality bus. He will cull and cull hard and that is what should occur. With a fit list I agree the nucleus of two ends is there just need to fix the middle and I am confident that will be addressed at seasons end. -
There's always one.....

If you think Jones is not better than Adams you have rocks in your head. 32 touches @ 84% with 10 clearances in a side that get's pants'd every week. Do you think he wouldn't be better if he had a Swallow, Wells and Harvey to help him out. Effort and structure is not costing us at present, skills and no forward target is. Outcome was as expected.

DEMONLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR - Round 18

I reckon the pros and cons read very similarly to Jobe Watson in his third year. He possesses the undervalued trait of just being able to rack up finding the pill (somethin we truly lack). Not saying he will be as good as Jobe but if he improves his size and engine he has oodles of upside.
