  1. The Albino Warrior and Oucher say hi Judd's Grandmother told me that Warnock is excited at the prospect of being reunited with Bailey.

  5. Have been on demonland about every second day for a few weeks but not bothered posting. But i feel compelled to respond to suggestions we should trade Jurrah (or even consider it!). I don't have the the stats at hand but he averages more than 2 goals a game in a side that has struggled for goals. His first season was on the back of no pre season at all pretty much. His second season he badly hurt his shoulder in the pre season. Last season the club was in disarray off field - and for a young fella in a completely foreign culture a stable club environment is absolutely crucial. He has the x factor we so desperately lack. Not hard enough, goes missing - please. He was asked to be our key forward last season when patently he is never going to be a key forward. He needs a big bodied forward to create some holes and take the best defender. Imagine him playing with Neita. He would thrive just as the Whiz did. Imagine him at Hawthorn, Geelong or Collingwood. They would kill to have him. Sure he can work on his defensive pressure. He will. A stable culture, some support up forward , some solid coaching (brown will be a huge support for him)and some decent bloody supply (not floating speculative helicopters into the forward line) and he will thrive. Since when can Melbourne afford to give away a player of Jurrah's obvious skill and talent? I repeat he averages more than 2 goals a game. Who comes close to that in our team, indeed for a non key position player in the league? I want to watch some players who make me enjoy footy through their sheer talent and sublime skills. Players like Rioli, Franklin, Johnson et al. Jurrah is one such player and for mine the most exciting player at the dees since the Wizard left. It's hard enough following the redlegs without jettisoning players with a gift. Get rid of him? You've got to be joking.

  6. He's a better kick than he thinks he is. I want to strangle Green, Moloney, and Davey when they trail behind him screaming at him to handpass it to them while they are standing still in awful positions. I cry sometimes about our senior players...

  7. Allow me to be a bit Sherlock Holmesy: In this video posted on the MFC site: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/7415/newsid/124846/default.aspx We see Harrington, Neeld, Mahoney, etc. walking around with folders accompanied by a guy wearing an Adelaide polo shirt which strikes me as quite interesting. Upon further investigation I deduced that it is this man: http://www.fiveaa.com.au/lib/images/audio/normal/crows-recruiting-guru-matt-rendell-on-the-2011-draft-pool-677606.jpg He is Matt Rendell, Adelaide's National Recruiting Manager. I think it it most likely that he was there to discuss Matthew Warnock's trade, as we know that an interstate club is in talks with us and combining the above observation with the fact that Adelaide have lost Bock and Davis to the new clubs, this makes Adelaide the most likely destination.

  8. The truth? He's had a big, strong body for years now and has never shown he can use it. Therefore you'd have to call him a medium forward. We have Green, Petterd, Howe, Jurrah, Dunn and Sylvia who I think are all ahead of him. Most would say that at the very least 4 out of those 6 are better footballers. What does Bate do better than any of these players that means he's worth persisting with? If I were him, I'd be requesting a trade as well.

  10. Give up too much? I'd expect them to give us a draft pick as well and pay his salary, he's a capital D dud. I hope we've gone past the stage of picking up hacks like this.

  11. I don't want to see Setanta at Melbourne and if he does come here, I'd be disappointed if we gave anything better than a pick very late in the draft. Warnock and Maric would be far far too much.

  12. As strong as next year's draft is meant to be, it will probably mean that every team will use their compo picks in that draft, further diluting it. The players we might target may not end up being there. It might better suit us to give away these picks for players that we really want, now.

  13. Nobody interested in this statement? To me he said we HAVE been talking to mature player types from other clubs in exchange for Bate, Warnock, Maric types ect

  18. 'One of the boys' has to do that job. The Football Director is the board member with an ear to everyone who knows all the dirty laundry. It is most definitely a 'job for the boys.'

  20. I have everything crossed for Jack Grimes. I would love to see him play 200+ games for the red & blue. Class act. Touch wood that his foot heals and he remains injury free from here on in. Wish him well.

  22. Personally i think Crouch is far more likely than O'meara. Winning anything more than token out of those three wanting out is unlikely, maybe pick upgrades, swaps or nothing. Would love Dangerfield who has obvious talent and courage but "tank" problems. Still has a lot of growth left in him as a player.

  23. Too true AoB, he's from Dongara, 3.5 hours north of Perth. Moved down for schooling, which imo would help in him moving interstate, as he has already moved away from home. Very similar to the situation our own Trengove was in, Naracoort is almost halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne, he moved to Adelaide for schooling, and now he finds himself in Melbourne. That one has seemed to work out pretty well. Why not O'Meara???

  24. Same. Not shattered, but I don't like it as much. It's still far better than the suggestion we make a new song. Yuck.

  26. You're [censored] me right? We genuinely have the second best song running round in the AFL - only better one is Richmond.

  27. 'Untouchable' is a bit of a furphy I reckon. Every player has their price. If Carlton were offered Gary Ablett and every GC pick in the draft, they'd trade Judd. With that said, the following players I'd only trade if we were offered way over their perceived value: Frawley Watts Trengove Gawn Garland is close to being on that list. Obviously there are folks that we'll surely be shopping around hoping for a nibble next week (Warnock, Bate, Dunn, Spencer, Maric, MacDonald) who have no or limited future with the team. If we can get rid of those for a draft pick upgrade, half-useful draft pick, or player who fills one of Neeld's needs, then that'd be a very good result. I'd be actively putting pick 12 out there this year.

  28. I agree. The hit on Rhyce Shaw was in his first AFL game. That is something worth acknowledging. Finals are won by hardness and skill, Tapscott has both. Also, I wouldn't underestimate the damage done to the fabric of the playing group if a second year player such as Tapscott was traded. It's not the same as trading serial disappointments such as Johnstone, or even tapping a 34 year old veteran on the shoulder. The fallout would be immense. The club wants these young players evolving together, much in the manner of Geelong early last decade. It's not that long ago that James Frawley was made to look second rate by Corey Jones and Paul Medhurst - on more than one occasion. Now he serves up those types of players on a platter. So I think it's a bit early to be pigeon-holing Tapscott on his defensive capability, or questioning whether he'll be able to flourish in other parts of the ground. He did very well working between forward and defence as a junior. I think he'll surprise a few in his third year.

  29. David Buttifant spoke about this re: Cameron Wood on SEN a week or so ago. He said simply that some tall blokes just take about 5 years. Couple that with Morton's bad luck* causing him to lose weight... The bloke hasn't had much of a chance. *Nose operation and following illness causing him to lose ~6kg on the eve of the season, PCL injury, finger injury this last preseason which would've prevented him from lifting weights but not running. He's had a bad run.

  30. Dangerfield is under contract and due to this will not be going anywhere. Next year may be a different story. Tapscott just played his first season of senior football where he looked very capable playing a role that he had not played previously. How about maybe we give the kid some time before people decide what he is and how good he'll be.

  31. He's currently the best player on our list, but for whatever reason doesn't deliver as such every week. It feels like I've been waiting forever for Col to come of age. Continue to wait I shall...

  32. My only concern is that I see him through such ridiculously rose coloured glasses that even I recognise it, so I could be setting myself up for huge disappointment (cue rpfc...). I just find it really hard to form an objective opinion of him. Anyway, he's a certainty for the captain role after Green makes way for mine.

  33. I hope Beamer heeds his own sage advice and wreaking havoc on a regular basis. I am tipping a big year for Colin just like I tipped it in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011......

  36. I disagree- we have a very good young mid field group developing now, add in Viney and we seem to have a good mix. We need to have a go at O'Meara but we don't need to offer the kitchen sink for him.
