Sylvias lack of Kahunas

Why did Sylvia not clean up Judd in the second quarter when he had the perfect opportunity to do it legally, squibbed it. Maybe all those muscles are like Brocks look good but don't want to use them a time we could have really used Bryon.

Thought the same myself. Would have made a real statement. If he kept his elbows tucked in, it would have been legal, as Judd was just about to take possession of the ball. It also would have thrilled every Melbourne fan and inspired his team mates.

I agree....Sylvia should have DESTROYED Judd with a massive (legal) hip and shoulder.

Sylvia and the rest of the Melbourne players need to stop taking the soft option and find a nasty streak and use it every once and a while!

If a player is there to be given a massive (legal) hip and shoulder then DO IT!!!

I beg to differ. These days what was once a legal hip and shoulder can land you in hot water if you hit the other player's head. If he happens to be lowering his head at the momen you make contact it could me a four week holiday. Our game is slowly becoming a non contact sport.

I thought this thread was going to be something about him always drinking some fancy kind of cocktail as he likes them so much...oh well....

The thread title should have read "Sylvia's lack of cojones".

I watched the game on sunday and saw sylvia get outmarked twice at least. And he was way bigger than the carlton guy.

He doesnt seem like he's got the fire to get the ball. Same as laying hip and shoulders, just not inspired to go the extra mile.

Which Carlton guy was he " way bigger than " ? The guy must have been a midget !

I can see both sides to this coin.

From a supporters point of view, it would have been a hige statment to clean up money bags mcgee. He would have gained much respect from fans and I am sure from his peers.

From Sylvia's point of view, the poor bastard has had an injury riddled few years, not to mention form fades. He is on the right track, and a bad tribunal hearing might have given him a week or 2, something that he cannot afford at this point in his career. I am sure cleaning up Judd went through his mind, the slight risk of being rubbed out was too high for him to take.

Hopefully Col can keep building form, which will let him off the hook IMO.

the only carlton player i remember outmarking him was Brad Fisher, and somehow i don't think Col is 192cm tall

Exactly. No need to do something stupid. He could well have stuffed it up.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

POSTGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

The Demons almost blew a six goal lead and ultimately hung on to win by three points over the North Melbourne Kangaroos at the MCG and have temporarily jumped back into the Top 8.

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
