you are all a disgrace.. just pathetic.. no heart...no hope..

And to think that I told a lot of people that Melbourne were a great value bet for the 1st round!?!?!?!

I am in absolute disbelief....

We are at rock bottom now!

We are not even in the same league as Carlton!!!!!

I have not felt this low since ..... well..... my whole damn life!!

I know I'll get shot down for this but...I believe the alternate jersey should be worn until the team is worthy of wearing the traditional Red and Blue.

There was not one bit of hope or positive to come out of the game..... We as a side need 3 -4 years to bottom out before we go anywhere.....

For the first time in my life, I am speechless.

Also for the first time in my life I left the ground at 3/4 time. Really couldn't take it anymore. Every Hawthorn goal was like a knife to the heart.

Will be interesting to see what Bailey does next. If I was coach I'd seriously contemplate throwing footballs at the players' head repetitively.

Things that must change:

Need to add leg speed (Why did buckley spend so much time on the bench)

Set up zones with ball ups.

Have midfielders defensive side of packs

Talk to each other when under pressure

Kick long and not chips around defence

Play on... We are so slow

Play either Green or Yze perm down back as a sweeper-spare man

Tell Nathan Jones to make an effort to clear whn lying on top of ball

Play Davey perm forward

Get J Rivers back, even in a wheelchair he's better than what we have down there

Bring back Bate and Sylvia

Introduce a little secret called Run and carry

Learn to tackle the arms not the waist

There is plenty more but thats the first lesson...

We are pathetic... We may not win a game if we carry on like this.....

Fromtodays game only Green, Chook and Jones get a pass...

Totally shattering. Can we stand another 21 weeks of this total embarssment!!

Me thinks on thread is needed for Melbourne bashing.

is it me or was Melbourne playing like they were back in the 70s?

I cant remember the Dee's being at a lower point, definately sad. Our forward line of Neitz, Robbo, and Newton wont work.

Too predicable we kicked it long and hope they would mark it. Im worried for Newton can take a mark, but looks very slow.

Did anyone pick up on Dean Bailey's game plan?

He looked like a frightened substitute teacher in the coaching box.

Just have to ask Nicho if the Green he was talking about was Brad Green?????? What game were u watching????

Just got back from the game

Quote of the day:

"Bring on the Seniors!!!"

The great SKYHOOKS classic was ringing in my ears all day.

" I'm Living in the 70's"

Today was like the entire decade in the 70's

I truly thought these times would never reappear, but here we go again.

Worst game ive seen in my 31 years of life. Worst than the Richmond game last year.

Our worst and sole problem today was we didnt run...and didnt play on.

hey, i was just listening to SEN right now and there was guy who called up and was bagging melbourne and he labeled as a Disgrace to the AFL

It seems that Paul McNamee will have his work cut out for him.

People and sponsors aren't fond of losers...and thats what we definitely were today! :(

aww Jaded....you left before the mighty comeback !!! pmsl..!!!!

I have been a member of this website for a long time, and have rarely posted, but what I saw at the game today was enough to prompt this message in this forum. I am in no way trying to be one of the many who simply come on here to bag the players and their efforts, but today's effort was simply insipid. I sat through the entire match, cheering when they finally got their second goal in the 3rd Quarter, and at that point it dawned on me. I have barracked for the MFC all my life and have been a member and am still a member to this day, but the way in which that group of players refused to play for each other and the jumper was a disgrace to players who have come before them and given their heart and soul for that jumper. I am gutted by the complete lack of desperation from the senior players and in particular the leadership group (with Russell Robertsoon looking completely disintersted at times). As was mentioned on here in previous weeks., it again started from the warm up all the way through to the finaly siren. I have never seen such a pathetic excuse for a "team" effort toady, and I hope Bailey let's them know exactly the impact their performance has not only on the supporters, but the general perception of the rest of the AFL world. We are viewed as a rabble who is lucky to still be in existence. My heart beast red and blue, and I won't give up on them yet, I will sit through another cold winter (not at the snow), let's hope next weeks is better and they learn from their mistakes.

History repeating... and on and on we go

I was reading lucifer's post, and it wasn't until he started talking about Russell Robertson that I realised his message was almost five years old. If that doesn't tell you something about this club's predicament, I'll go hee.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
