I can't believe Sylvia has been with us for 5 years

Farren Ray would look alright in Red and Blue atm.

Good running player with decent enough skills, and Tenace would probably get a gig with any team outside Geelong, Hawkas and maybe the Doggies

tenace is a dud. just because he's on geelong's list does'nt make it more likely he'd get a gig elsewhere.

what I saw of Sylvia was appauling. I made a point of watching his work rate yesterday as I saw exactly what I had been fearing....Nothing. I don't need to expand here as it has been done already but at some points yesterday, I swear his legs were painted on.

Agree. He's either not right physically (i.e. he's carrying an injury) which is not allowing him to work as hard as he'd like, and/or years of OP has taken it's toll and he no longer has the burst in his legs, along with the right attitude to work harder given those physical limitations. He looked slow and tired against the Roo's, and basically just looked lost.

I've abstained from commenting about Sylvia until now, but geez... he was really bad.

Someone hit the nail on the head in the '3-word player analysis' thread when they said: "was he drunk?"

He was playing without a brain or legs yesterday.

Does anyone know if he is contracted for next year?

Hope not.

I don't believe he holds any value in terms of a trade, but if we were going to persevere with him, i was thinking he should be offered a one year deal and told your on your last legs.

3rd rnd pick at best; this year maybe 4th. Still worth moving him on - for his sake as well.

I think that's a good idea Jerry. Hopefully that would make him wake up and realise that if he doesn't do something about his crap form he won't be playing AFL for much longer. For the same reason I reckon he might get dropped this week.

Colin Sylvia bores me.

But to answer your question he is out of contract.

Lord knows where Cuddles has him in his "red&blue" blueprint.

Out of contract? Unless the club knows something about him that we dont i feel he will be moving on, I cant see the club chucking 3 years at him.

Unless Im mistaken he will still actually be under contract through the trade period. Clubs will need to trade for him or he can nominate for the PSD

Probably not even in my best 18, let alone an "important part of the side".

Hmm, I'm afraid i have run out of patience with Sylvia, I think he needs to be traded at years end as he still has some trade value. There is only so long that you can wait for a player to start doing well.

Hmm its interesting regarding Sylvia. I think the higher finishing clubs will need to trade for him if they want to get hold of him. They won't want him going through to the PSD.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
