None other than Jospeh Gutnick is set to make a herculeon return to his club, replacing the paper boy as CEO /CFO. A left, very left field choice, but he is passionate and has the financial credentials. He has been lobbying privately and the appointment includes guaranteed sponsorship, that will ensure black ink. On the back of this guarantee, and the forthcoming hype that will re-invigorate a deflated MFC, the AFL has fully endorsed the plan. They see it as a low risk, worth taking.

Paper boy to return to his former glory, getting the red pen out.

Press Release by C.O.B 20/1/08.

I for one am pleased he sees that he has unfinished business. Congrats Jo. Good luck and Go Get Em!

And Mr. Jakovich will line up at full forward in the Nab Cup opener at Skilled Stadium, no doubt! ;)

Its 1 February today not 1 April.

Its worrying that people would take the bait and welcome back such a divisive and self serving individual with a dubious corporate record (no matter how much he bank rolls the club).

close to best thread ever on demonland - genius jacka!

:o I'm with Rhino...no doubting Joe's passion, but he can split clubs like Wayne Carey can split packs, cops, girls cheeks, etc, etc ,etc

WJ, I read what you had to say on this topic on another forum. You stated that the AFL would be happy with this appointment. Is this a statement of fact, or just your warped opinion?

And you are??????????

Well done W_J. In one fell swoop you summed up why many don't bother posting.

Wheres_jacka turns to the crowd, takes the helmet off and raises the bat. Your congratulations are gratiously accepted.

The real issue is, why would someone deem it neccessary to delete the thread. As I said, a geek with the power of thread removal, is a very dangerous individual. Fair dinkum, the spaz who deleted this needs to take a good hard look in his/her nerdy mirror, and give yourself a nerdy shake of the head in self disgust.

Long live a little bit of humour, even if I am the only one who has a chuckle.

I wish it was true... would love to see him back at the club. Miss him.

well done WJ, an actuall question to people on demonland...if this were a true statement, it would be a risk and i would not be happy, look at the position we are in now because of joe, if he came back, all of this hard work to get us in shape could all be lost again...maybe we need a new CEO, not jo gutnick however

Well I put my hand up and say Im a goose. I believed it and was over the moon......oh well.

really? coz i actually have enormous respect for him and w_j. Some of my barrage is then recalled.

Not a problem. While many of us supported Joe in the early days of Demonland and still appreciate his contribution to the club, while he would be welcome back as a fan of the club, I personally couldn't see him in the role of CEO at the club. Time's passed on.

Maybe not as CEO but a seat at the big round table would be good

Excuse my ignorance but exactly who pays for Demonland and Demonology to pop up on my computer whenever I need a Demons hit?

Is it just a couple of dedicated/manic individuals?

I'd be more than happy to throw in a few dollars to see the survival of both.

Then again, if they're funded by millionaire retirees I might withdraw my offer.

Has Joe ever been a CEO?... whilst I appreciated his support of the club I knew the post was BS when it suggested he'd come back in a 'hands on" role. You may as well suggest that Dick Pratt fills out his own tax returns.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
