On Thursday night, the Demonology/Demonland Player Sponsorship Group (which in 2006 & 2007 has sponsored Clint Bartram), had the pleasure of hosting an event attended by MELBOURNEfc's new Football Operations Manager, Chris Connolly.

Chris shared with us many of his theories about the club, its players, and its direction - which was incredibly interesting and informative.

I have been informed by the club that Chris will be doing another talk, this time at MELBOURNEfc's Leighoak, next Wednesday 19th of December, between 7-9pm.

Anyone who missed the Player Sponsorship event, or is considering becoming apart of the group in 2008, or even anyone who just wants to talk MFC should make an attempt to get along and hear the incredibly knowledgeable and passionate Melbourne man speak.

WHO: Chris Connolly

WHEN: 7-9pm, 19th December 2007

WHERE: Leighoak, 1555 Dandenong Rd, Oakleigh

Sounds good. I unfortunatly can't make it, one of the many things you can't go to when you work in hospitality.

Wasn't much of a turnout Red Man.

Chris spoke a lot about the importance of being Melbourne and chatted a lot about old Melbourne times and a little about Fremantle (including a lengthy Troy Cook spiel).

He's obviously followed the club's history closely and spoke of Ridley, Gutnick and the Hawthorn merger.

Talked about how important players like Rivers, Bartram and Petterd are.

He opened up for questions and copped a beauty on the Dees being soft and having no heart (example being the Fremantle finals loss).

Explained ND's attacking gameplan and that we didn't have the ability to win the ball once "derailed".

Asked about who our CHF will be in 2010 - he mentioned Bate, Sylvia and Dunn as we're looking for someone quick. No mention of Miller... yet

Was asked about Miller and said that he's training hard and has a lot to prove in 08 as it's now or nothin.

I asked about our backline and put up someone's suggestion (can't remember who's) about using PJ around CHB as that's a big weakness for us. Seemed to think PJ lacked the mobility and that a really tall player wasn't needed there.

All up was a good night and CC said he looked forward to more talks with members.

Will definitely be getting down to Leighoak and the Bentleigh club more often!

Thanks for Brock Mclean fr PM for the info. Maybe next time the club will give more notice , so more cam attend.

Just before Xmas, is a bad time to hold this type of event.

In 08, I will join the Demonology/Demonland Player Sponsorship Group, so I can come to the presentations , and also to become more involved !!

How does one go about joining the Demonology/Demonland Player Sponsorship Ground?

How much does it cost and what does it involve?

He likened Bartram's injury to Tingays and said that it's something that will have to be continually managed.

Didn't say much about timeframes and coming back however!

Jesus. That's like just about the worst thing you could hear in regards to an injury... Just watch the boards now, poor old Barts' rating is gonna drop dramatically.

It's a shame I'm overseas. Such a transparent meeting with someone so close to the heart of the footy club is just about the most concrete proof that the 'land-'ology nexus is being taken seriously by the club. Since the day I joined I'd been hoping for something like this, but never believed the powers that be at MFC would take us that seriously. Well done Chris...

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
