Pick 66

Stopping goals starts from midfield pressure. So i am happy to pick up Morton and Grimes. Maric is touted as a FP who could develop into a mid.

Morton may also eventually bE a KP or able to play mid or KP depending on team needs.

The trend these days is smaller bascks who can run/have pace. We are setting ourselves up nicely here.

At 17 he will prob add 2 cm or so, well i hope.

An inch!!

He can't play a position because he is an inch too short!

WTF!

There's a Simpson quote to reel off, you know, when Bart went for the role of Fallout Boy. Good times.

i thought we would surely go for atleast one player of true Key position size around 194cm+

agreed but there just can't have been any good ones at our picks. CAC may as well stop off at Bunnings on the way home and pick up a 2m redgum sleeper as pick a dud KPP.

if people want to see footage of McNamara (or all the draftees for that matter) there's 1.5 mins of footage on afl.com.au, through the 'draft tracker' link.

he looks very impressive.

picking up 17 year olds who are still growing can pay off massively!

Tom Collier wasn't picked up last year, but this year was drafted early 20s. Pavlich wasn't drafted when he first nominated, next year drafted at pick 4.

Newton, Dunn and Bate were all bottom age when they were drafted, and would have been top10 picks had they waited an extra year to nominate.

CAC is a clever bastard, so at pick 66 this kid could be a steal. we wont know for atleast 2 years.

You summed it up very well syv, if he didn't get picked up then he would have probably gone as early as 1st round next year(who knows) but if he can bulk up and grow a little he could be the key defender we need. looking at the footage of him playing he looks quite mobile so there is every chance that he could playing on the tall forwards and the smaller forwards. I think CAC did a good job. i would've been happy with him or Travis Dulic (i really rated this kid)

Which is?

I think Sampi is a different proposition to Byron.

you dont rush to pick players that despite a talent have difficulty focussing on the game and difficluty maintaining fitness.

Wish Sampi well. where ever the sherrin takes him.. happy to pick the blokes we did.

Byron promised much ..and delivered very little on it, pardon me if I shy away from a repeat

possibly....the thinking is he will still add a few cm's and wil fill out as he adds days to his still young age. Maybe this is a good pick looking down the track.. is a bit light for a defender at moment..if to play as the tall.

McNAMARA may well be an understudy for 1 or 2 seasons before filling in for any of Carroll, Miller, Warnock et al...& who knows, maybe forward.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
