As noted a couple of days ago one MFC fan tried to bet $25,000.00 with Sportsbet @ $3.00 on MFC to get Judd but was refused and only let on for $2,000.00 and his whole family has bet on MFC (backed as if MFC are morals).

Are they

a. the most naive fools going around,

b. loaded with too much free cash (i.e. tax write offs), or

c. really quite cluey and certain of result with inside info?

The one thing I have learned is to respect reasonably large bets as it is not lost easily with a grin and a shrug.

Sportsbet are suspicious and rightly so!

They have held only $20,000 on the market with 8 out of 10 bets on Collingwood.

Now if this is true, why are they still offering $3.00 same as MFC?

Not being a mathematician I can quickly calculate that they should have Collingwood at around the $1.50 and MFC at $5.00 or $6.00 with Carlton who are still $2.10 at the moment.

Are "Sportsbet" and "Eskander" (who have MFC @$3.25) just taking them on and on and on for one good reason - the bookies dont lose easily !!

Now if loud mouth bragging Collingwood supporters are so confident why don't they put all their beer, drug, dole and child maintenance money on them and bring that price down to the righful price? They will be able to take life easy for a fair while or maybe go on holdays to Williamstown beach for Xmas.!! Collingwood fans, if you have a spine you should put your money where your teeth used to be!

The fat lady has not sung yet!

Fuschia,

This is a very good point. Why are our odds so low considering that 8 in 10 bets are on Collingwood? Makes no sense. Why does someone want to be $25000 on Melbourne and every other family member also making this bet? These guys had never bet with Sports bet before.

Interesting, interesting!

Here is the article from todays Herald Sun:

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/com...5E20322,00.html

My view is he wants to come to Melbourne but did the right thing and interviewed the 3 big Melbourne clubs as well to keep Melbourne honest and also to satisfy himself that he was indeed making the right decision.

This may well turn out to be the most succint appraisal of the whole carry on yet !! :)

Well I'm glad I jumped back on the optimistic bandwagon last night, because this is some very positive news. Not only the amount significant, but also the fact that his whole family have jumped on it. Now you could say that Collingwood supporters aren't betting that much because, apart from that greaseball president of theirs, nobody has that much, but the bets are still coming in for Collingwood, it's just the numpties are putting them there, not anyone with any real info.

I'm with you Deetastic. Can I borrow your shoulder to cry on when this all turns sour? ;);) I kid, I kid...

little bets mean nothing... just mug punters..

sizable monies speak of either real balls....or a little knowledge B)

unfortunately spmetimes it is just that ...too little knowledge and not enough..lolo

Good to hear some encouragement for people to gamble away large amounts of cash.

This is something we need more of.

not encouraging to "gamble" large amounts away at all !! as the correct way is to invest ie:"NEVER TAKE UNDERS"

as the odds on mfc (@$3.00 )are far TOO SHORT to bet !!!( without a lot of surety..

and only invest large amounts on relatively sure things !!! as with 80 % to 90 % confidence.

or bet small amounts one can afford to lose at "VERY TEMPTING ODDS" AS WITH THE $7 TO $ 9 RANGE THAT THEY WERE !!

an old famous quote in racing from ken howard " never bet "odds on" and never walk upstairs>>>

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
