Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

so it comes down to the last 9/10 games, who is going to finish top?

will arsenal hold on? or will man u finish all over the young gunners?

or, and hate it as you will, will chelsea find a way to scrap back into the fight? they have two games in hand compared to arsenal, and should they come up as wins, they will be only 2 points behind them comparatively. Also holding home games against man u and arsenal in the run home, chelsea may not be the spent force this year that everyone believes they are.

FWIW, i reckon man u will finish on top...bah!! but i think it's far from over

Manchester Utd are a shoe-in from here. That Eduardo injury has rocked the Gooners and their cutting edge seems to have evapourated recently; especially noticeable when your team plays to try and pass the ball into the back of the net.

Unfortunately have to agree...looks like the Gunners have blown it

Goal difference could turn out to be crucial

If you can beat Everton, they also face Arsenal and Chelsea, so it is fair to say that that win, plus victory over birmingham and wigan would put you above the Toffs.

Massive last game against the Hammers though. Portsmouth has possibly the easiest run of all against Man city, blackburn, Middlesbrough and Fulham so i'd have to say they'd be in the box seat.

Heskey's goal was so crucial in the title race, unfortunately ending it early i think, but thankfully pushing chelsea away

Here we go again, about 28 seconds after the '07-'08 season finished, the '08-'09 season has begun.

Tottenham have begun a season that promises much poorly.

Arsenal looked less than impressive in their victory, as did Liverpool.

Interesting to see how the promoted teams go. Good on Hull!

Will Man U. hold on again? Will Chelsea conquer them? Will Liverpool overcome their 18 year drought and claim the title?

I hope Torres gets the top scoring award, he's worthy and good enough IMO

It drives me balmy when I read reports on Liverpool's games, and all I see is 'Torres to the rescue', 'Torres saves Reds' blushes', etc, etc. Why are we the only club that gets pilloried for beating teams 1-0 in the last half hour? When Man Yoo or the Gooners do it, its 'grinding out a win', but when Liverpool do it, we're underperforming and only a game away from a steep downward spiral. Bollicks!

Couldn't agree more mate.

When the big clubs do it it's always because they "know how to win" and have more "class" than their opponents and as such were always going to get over the top.

But when middle-lower clubs do it, it's always a story of luck and how it could've gone either way.

Chelsea are the worst "offenders" of the late win/draw

Its amazing how quick it comes around. They play virtually all year round with friendlies, Pre-season comp, and Exhibition matches in other countries. Man U and Chelsea will be One and Two again. I think Chelsea might get the title this year. The Champions League Final loss in Russia and Terry's miss will go along way to regaining the title.

Agree. Keane will be a welcome addition for Liverpool. He will provide more goals than Crouch who is at Portsmouth now.

I can't believe the quality of the players at Chelsea. The boss there must really love Chelsea, or he just has far way too much money to throw around.

The latter, I think you'll find High Tower. A Russian oil Tycoon with an estimated net worth of US$23.5bn ( note the b ), and coming in at 15 on the Forbes wealth list. To his credit though, Abramovich does get along to most Chelsea games, which is more than can be said for alot of the chumps that own premier league clubs.

$23.5 Billion!

Yeah I see him alot. The coach, Scolari (is that right) would of cost a bit wouldn't he?

Looking at the side, Ballack, Anelka, Cech, Terry, Cole & Cole, Lampard (new 5 year contract), that new Portuguese player, etc and yet they still have Drogba and Schevchenko on the sidelines!

Great to see Arsenal go down.

Though typical Spurs don't let me enjoy it too much. Would love to see an open season as far as the top of the table is concerned, don't see it happening though

In all honesty. I think Chelsea are a shoe-in for the Premiership. With Man U the only chance of stealing glory. Man U need Ronaldo back in a hurry to win the premiership.

Spurs - disappointing.

I'd like to see Liverpool pull their finger out finally. Keane IN Crouch OUT - will go a long way to improve their position.

Liverpool Man U tonight.

Massive match. The Reds have a chance to stake their intentions on the top rated side. Gerrard and Torres passed as fit.

The Reds haven't beaten the Red Devils at Anfield since 2001, and if they have any hope of reaching their 19th title, you'd think they would have to win tonight

Almost as bad as Newcastle losing to Hull at home

True. Chelsea just keeps on keeping on......

I see Vidic got red carded, to miss the clash against Chelsea too. Sir ALex will have to lower his blood pressure for this clash. It could well be two on the trot!

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
