Send off rule?

after seeing 3 incidents this week involving high contact, ( johnson, roe, and unknown) , i was wondering if the afl should impose a send off rule for nasty incidents as this , like they did after winmars brain snap a few years back

I would prefer a 5-10 min send off rule (without replacement) as well as a report, especially in Grand Finals.

yeah thats basically it , even though in most incidents as soon as it happens the player is sent off by the coach

No, they get enough wrong without sending off someone who might not have deserved it.

I know the ben johnson case is easy to judge in the heat of battle but there will be other cases where the ump makes a bad decision and it affects the game.

If we're not going to have a rule because the umpires will get it wrong then we should just abolish all of the rules, so they'll never make a mistake again.

If they make it a 17v18 contest for a given amount of time then clubs won't do it because it will give their opposition a huge advantage.

one of the main reasons i like afl is because there is no send offs. When i tell people that there are no send offs they are suprised

Spot on, that was exactly what I thought when I first read this idea. This is just one more thing an umpire can bugger up in the heat of the moment IMO.

Don't really know if it would be good or bad but nearly every other aussie rules comp in victoria would have it !
