Moloney

I made this criticism late last year and I haven't changed my view. Nothing last night changed my view. He is predictable, his kicking is ineffective. He always tries to bust bust tackles and get onto his right foot. His kicking action is restricted, maybe by OP, and this means he doesn't follow through. The result is a kick with with trajectory that floats at the end. it is inaccurate and easy to spoil. The doggies couldn't capitalize on these turnovers last night but many times it has frustrated me in the past. I'm not bagging him, I just don't think he will be the gun engine room player that people seem to think he will be. Whaddya reckon?

The physio staff were busy on the sidelines working furiously on his groin during the game while he was on the bench.

IMO he is still majorily affected by OP.

Furthermore he is too top heavy.

He needs to trim down a bit in the same manner that Nathan Jones did over summer.

He is lacking fitness and game time and as a football club we can't afford to have a core midfielder down so much. If he cant get his body right over pre season he might not be worth anything to us. Travis Johnstone has been similar but atleast when he does play he produces the goods.

I will reserve judgement on him until next year, we all know the last 2 have been injury riddled and no real pre season to speak of, if you think back he was very effective in his first year with us.

Correct, many people forget he finished 4th in the B & F in his first year with the club. That year was relatively injury free, and he has been dogged by injury ever since. Hopefully a full pre-season under his belt lets us see the real Beamer.

I'm his biggest fan and I can be bias at times, but really why is he playing?

He clearly isn't 100% and why not let guys like Bode play out the year and rest Beamer until next year?

He is of no real use in this state, he can't run out a game, his kicking is down and his pace is down (He isn't naturally super quick but has reasonable pace, but with OP he is caught easily).

I also agree he should lose a bit of muscle to help his fitness and he'll be slightly quicker as well.

He has missed nearly 2 years of footy with OP.

FCS, we should give him every opportunity to feel the leather in a match when he is physically capable of doing so.

He has missed so much footy that to miss more he would have to re learn it out of a textbook.

I tend to agree with Rhino on this one. Moloney has missed far to much football to be continually rested. With the end of the season closing in though, it probably would be best to put him out to pasture for a bit.

His first season with us was a very consistant one. His run from half back and entry into the forward line seems to have been forgotten, sure some of his kicks tend to come down with ice on them but generally his disposal was pretty good in that first year, he also had a bit of pace which he seems to be struggling with now under the OP.

Thats the Key Rhino he's missed too much footy. To be an effective midfielder you need a huge pre - season and need to play every week.

2008 will be a deifying year for him.

Look at the year Jones has had, noted big pre season and I think has played every game.

Moloney is severely hindered by OP. He cant take off and stand up in tackles as well as he should. Go watch 2005 clips, and you will see that behind Travis (who won the Bluey), Moloney was our second best midfielder and had a consistent good year. He represented Australia in the international rules series against Ireland, and was picked due to his long kicking and PACE. He is hindered at the moment, but people forget that when he is up and going, he can work up quite abit of momentum and smash right through tackles instead of being caught. I mean it was only the start of this year he was having an impact. He was amongst our best for the first few weeks until his groin flared up. We need him to get over his OP, because he could be a really useful player for us. But you'd think if his battle with it doesn't improve over the next year or two, that he will be traded off or cut loose :(

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
