I'm embarrassed that Yze is called an MFC great. How low can the threshhold be?

must be about as low as my opinion of u.....rock botttom

Let me know when the opponent is not Richmond, as someone equally as [censored].

richmond beat us

Will it be a hard ball get, a contested body on body possession or another easy receive or soft ball get?

Its an indictment on this Club's supporters that we eulogise players as champions who are selfish non team orientated downhill skiers.

easy receive or not... lead kicks in the AFL for kicks 2 years .... that must be soo easy...

not as easy at cheap put me downs u dish up on here....

this thread begs the question will there or is there a player u respect or have somthin good to say about?

i dont know how old u are .... but it appears u are extremly old fashioned.... selfishness is needed in all team sports acts of individual brilllance motivates teams...

wat motivates you? player bashing?

Fair call QC.

However it is not the coach that is going to make him more accountable. Its Yze. I cant see it happening at 30/31 yo. He has spent so many years cheating the one % and team rules by relying on his special talents. Unfortunately, they have been dissolving over the past 3 to 4 years. He struggled at AFL level this year. He will next year.

this year hes barley played a game..... and look at his average stats for the year will u rhino...

u are the worst for this.....

say utter garbage when the stats prove u wrong....

STUFF THE 1% yze has and always will be a MFC champion ur opinion says little about ur self and for the other players who have played for mfc.

and when he plays his 300th game next year not even u rhino will be able to deny him of that.

well.. short of a time warp Adem wont be playing his 300th any time soon.

I would doubt that his career will last long enough to take that accolade. Simply because hes at the business end of his career and his body aint going to cash them cheques any longer !! Thats just reality whether your a pro or disinterested observer.

For me Ooze represents so much about the plight of Melbourne, 5 mins of limelight and pizaz is accompanied by 55 mins of dross and heartache.

So many parallels can be drawn to the way Adem went about his work as has the club in general. The standards applied, the expectations, the failures and dissapointments. Not for one moment accusing ooz of causing the predicament but hes surely a cast member as much as anyone who's played through the ND years.

The bar simply hadnt been set high enough. Work ethics were lip -service excuses too easily rolled out and mediocrity not only tolerated but by lack of punishment effectively rewarded.

given we WILL have a new coach next year and can only assume that the expectations wil be written in blood and no largese taken then Ooze will not fit in, he wont be alone.

Oozes best is now behind him, what he has left to offer I dont think wil be substantial enough to push aside on any permanent basis one of the new breed young guns.

He might do well to broker a deal with the club and go out with head held reasonably high, before the game passes him by . I dont mean ill will towards the bloke...but my real concern is for the club going forward.

Unfortunately for Adem I would suggest the person responsible for much of the scorn and criticisms leveled at him is none other than himself. We can only call them as we see them !!

Just reminded me of the simpsons,

Lisa (reading invitation): "Come to Homer's BBBQ. The extra B is for BYOBB."

Bart: What's that extra B for?

Homer: That's a typo.

Great. Another thread that has degenerated into criticising the career of Adem Yze.

Was going to go through his record but facts won't get in the way of the misguided "impressions" that some posters have on this board.

Posted

He's experienced, can turn a game and is a game winner the sort of player we need sneaking around our forward line

Good Luck for 2008 YZE!

Its amazing that these boards seem to breed retards nowadays. When one person says an inane, baseless comment, it encourages more drivel to rise from the woodwork.

Criticise the form, NEVER criticise the players' heart. Yze has given up more money, better lifestyle, better conditions than most other people at the club to play with this team. He loves the club, relishes playing with all his teammates. I have seen his boot win so many games and had performances that have left me breathless that I would not begrudge him any amount of time he needs before he departs. That he sometimes falls short on the paddock is not isolated to just Yze. Poor form and injury have claimed even our great leader over the last 3 years. To say that he has no place in the team, I would suggest looking at 6-8 other players before him.

Allow him to play on or retire - it is his choice. We all owe him that.

always amuses me that players seem beyond reproach !!. They're paid professionals. We are entitled to critique, especially if you're a member and as such contributed towards their keep !!

The thread was entitled..Adem Yze.. so we talk about...guess what..Adem Yze...not about maybe some other players who also might deserve attention.

We owe ???

No other way round...he gets paid...he owes to the payer !!

Im embarrassed to here such things being spoken about a Melbourne great.

careful what you write on these websites you never know who is reading them. show some respect belzebub you twirp!

Jack, I have amended my comment prior to your question as my amendment more aptly captures my thoughts on this.

I dont rate Top 10 Bluey finishes for a player with Yze's skills who short cuts on the delivery of that. His laziness and selfishness have wasted his god given talents and its too late to change that.

I have been waiting for Yze to make me eat my words since early 2004......You know what he has only confirmed my initial doubts. Its gets worse each year

In 2008, beyond fully fit and rested under new coach I would hope the new Coach will educate Yze that he focusses on TEAM and not ME.

you really know what your on about dont you rhino, in 2004 he was named best 'team' player you [censored]!

I recall when it was announced Gary Lyon and David Schwartz on SEN laughed that it is the first time they could recall that a player could win the team player award without giving a handball.

Rather embarrassing when two ex- stars of the Club are able to say that on radio without one talkback caller challenging them on it.

Hmmm!

Ok the all mighty Lyon and Ox (LOVE THEM BOTH) would have had a laugh about it yes. But do you think they were serious? They would probably be friends with Yze. Played with him.

225 games in a row is a pretty tough to overlook. Hasn't been a shining star this year but he has only played 8 games due to injury. So next year if his body and mind permits, i see him being the spark he always has been.

Yes. It was said in relation to the way MFC melted toward the end of the season and the lack of players who were prepared to do the hard things and the 1%ers. And they used the Yze award as an demonstrative of this weakness.

Its a pity that weakness contuinued in 2005, 2006 and 2007. I wonder if its got something to do with Club culture.

They were right.

I would not always assume that just because people played together that they are necessarily friends.

Do you honestly think Ox and Gaz don't like Yze.

Call Ox on SEN tonight. Ask him. I don't think you could not like Yze, I have spoke with the man, he is a very kind person who treated me and my mate with the upmost respect.

I would not always assume that just because people had a laugh about a poor season that they aren't necessarily friends.

I dont know either way. Once again you made the statement saying "They would probably be friends with Yze. Played with him."

I dont think you can make the assumption. I dont know why you would think OX would make a candid statement on public radio that he did not like someone. I do not see the relevance of your one off short meeting with OX.

I am aware of many successful AFL teams where despite appearances players did not get on.

Ok I said I had met Yze. I was saying I couldn't believe they wouldn't like him. And you have obviously made the assumption that they were serious about laughing at Yze. Just cause someone doesn't handball. Im pretty certain a kick goes to a team mate as well.

You are aware. Got something to back it up. Your saying im making an assumption, that was an assumption what you said. Its an assumption I agree with but an assumption is an assumption either way. So back up that you personally are aware please.

And also you keep missing something, you say I said "They would probably be friends with Yze. Played with him."

I said PROBABLY. Means might be, maybe, theres a better chance than not.

No. I believed that they laughed at MFC's 2004 meltdown and the fact that the team player award went to a player that does not handball. However, it would also be reasonable for them to have a wry grin given they know the selfless and fearless way he plays the game.

I glad you agree that your earlier comment was an assumption.

I agree Rogue.

I think Rhino's on crack - All he seems to do is pick fights with fellow posters too.

We're all Melbourne FC supporters so if he wants to fight, he should do it elsewhere.

GO DEES!!!!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
