Jefferson's best game.

I thought he competed well.

He does shank a lot of set shots though. Needs to sort that out quickly

Quick ball movement forward is the key and not bombing the ball on their heads is also key

Resulting in a lot of 1 on 1's or unopposed marks in the f50. And we're staying away from the boundary line when going forward

A complete contrast to previous years

What is most surprising is how quickly we've changed ... the buy-in has been remarkable

And that can only help players like Jeffo. The ball is now in his court

...though 'sok if it's Brodie or Bailey there! 😉

Good forwards put their body on the line and lead to places where they can get crunched

I get what you're saying but leading to the boundary line can often be counter-productive if it occurs too often

Accolades for fessing up. I'm not sure it was you though.

But anyway I'm sure you hope your wrong being the honest soul you are.

What's the benchmark?

Let's say for simplicity goals kicked.

What average is a good one from him given his limited experience?

I would like to see him take more than 2 marks in a game, that would be a good start. If he does that, the goals should come

He played an OK game but he is not living up to the expectations of his draft selections.

I would imagine when Melksham is available Jefferson will make way again.

Jeffo will overtake JVR by the end of the year

Not sure why the reluctance of Demonland to see what's in front of them!

His marking game and his disposal by hand and foot around the ground is growing over the last fortnight.

I think what will make or break Jeffo at AFL level is the mental side. He appears to get inside his head with goalkicking, because at VFL level he's an accomplished kick for goal.

Different type of players.

If JVR can find consistency, he'll be a very good player.

What do you mean by overtake? Love a sweeping statement but also love an explanation.

Over take JVR as our best young KPF prospect (I'm a JVR fan btw)

Cool. I thought thats what you meant and a fair shout.

I think the only fairness in regards the demonland reluctance is due to the small sample size.

I think he'll excel with Kings game style. His work between the arcs has been the most impressive part for me these last two games. Competes in the air and provides that link to hand off to our runners to get the ball off side. I liked him hitting the scoreboard last night but equally the 6 score involvements.

Jefferson was ok I suppose, againdt the bottom team. But if we are going to play 2 rucks , I think that 4 key forwards are excessive. And it will mean Jefferson will Miss out I fear

I can't see it with Jeffo. He does jump at the ball when he gets a run at it, but to my eyes he is slightly hunched/has an awkward gait, isn't particularly imposing and his set shots are an absolute raffle.

I'd love to be wrong though. Hopefully he just needs some time to feel he belongs.

It's more about the 3 pronged talls up forward and how they work together.

The sum of all the parts

So far, they aren't getting in each other's way and we're rotating them occasionally in different parts of the forward line

This allows us to use Fritsch further up the field and as well as forward in a type of roving commission

Even when Gawn went forward he somehow found himself one-out

So it's not necessarily about Jeffo per se, more the combo

Worth persevering with (for now)

@Farmer

I might add that the new rucking rules really does help the forwards (and disadvantages the backmen)

The ball is coming out of the middle at a rapid rate which makes it hard for the defenders to double-team or to create a pack/spoil situation

What that clearance advantage needs is for the forwards to present and play in front consistently. Play from behind and it's hard to mark and almost impossible to win a free kick.

And Jeffo, JVR & Mihocek are all fighting for the front position

I reckon that's why King is playing 3 tall forwards as well as a proper 2nd ruck

The opposition now have 3 KPF's to worry about

I rated him 4/10 last night. Yes there were some positive signs.

Run through on my rating (just through my eyes)

  • Jeffo goal in qtr 1 (Dees first) was honestly a very soft free kick

  • One good passage where he marked and goaled in 3rd qtr. Good.

  • Dropped 4/5 marks where he got his hands to it. Needed to stick them. That’s still an issue.

  • One tackle for the night. Missed 3-4 tackles. No real 2nd efforts still.

  • Shot for goal in last qtr from 25metres out was horrible. Barely scored a point. A real shank.

  • Intensity at this level is not there.

I do want him to make it. I would like him to get more games and build confidence. We need marking forwards and I think the Dees getting Mihocek in will help Jeffo and JVR.

Those stats make it easily Jeffo's best game and its all up from there.

Imperative to persevere with him. While we are winning we can get games into the young players.

If Fritsch is out of the forward line you can play another tall down there - coz he defends like a tall…

I don’t think it is coincidence that the week Fritsch goes to the wing, Moose comes into the team and the next week we bring in Jefferson.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah, still don't see it. Will take a good mark on the odd occasion but is basically invisible outside of that. Got a very generous free for his first goal as well after tripping over his own feet. JVR also goes missing but his ceiling is a lot higher than Jefferson so far. Having both in the team doesn't work.

Keen to see Kentfield get a go and maybe even Ah-Mu at the MSD

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
