Luker started off as a defender for Casey and did well. The first game he played as a forward went so well that that’s where he’s remained. He doesn’t have a preference, he’s happy to play either/any position. Of course he is, nothing bothers this kid. Easy to please is an understatement.

I would like to see him get a go this week.

We need to get these types involved early so they will be in a good position later in the season.

Petty is safe for mine, competing well in the ruck and through the middle. Room for improvement behind the ball, but is our best swing man option currently.

Love TMac, he's a touch slow but ok for the gorilla forwards (Harry M, 2 metre Peter).

Laurie the only obvious one to be unseated, only if one or both of Rivers and Fritsch are good to go.

I’d love for him to debut this week. I think if he doesn’t this week it will be due to team balance as Kingy puts it.

I'm surprised about TMac's name coming up as a possible exclusion from Saturday's team. His form to me as a TV observer has been more than adequate. There's no one at Casey pushing up to replace him (Separate subject but we have too many tall forwards... time to try some in defence).

Rivers returning is not a like for like as is of course Kentfield up forward.

Am I missing something

Petty would move from his ruck/back/forward utility role back to Key back.

Luker or Jeffo would come in to the forward line with either Luker or JVR rucking.

Tom was solid against Carlton and ok against the Suns in very tricky match ups. I’d keep him and give the young key forwards another week of training at least.

But at some stage the likes of T Mc and Melksham have to make way for some younger guys.

if he's fit, milkshake should play imo

his experience and nous is vital for that f50

Melksham kicks goals fairly often. Sometimes a lot in clutch moments.

I doubt Melksham will play every game even if not injured. I reckon the club will manage him in the hope he’s cherry ripe come September. A fit Melksham is a must come finals.

Ah 2023, the one that got away :-(

What do you think RIF? I reckon he really has a drawing capacity of adulation from both sides just by himself.

Similar of course to the Picketts.

Without getting into fan club angles and premature assessments.

You have to be kidding me dropping T.Mac and putting Petty back. Petty has been terrible needs to be dropped. Not a forward not a backman. Kentfield comes in for Petty and if Fritsch is available he comes in for Laurie but if he isn't Laurie stays in the side.

B: Lever, McDonald, Salem

HB: Tholstrup, Turner, Lindsay

C: Langford, Sparrow, Windsor

HF: Chandler, van Rooyen, Culley

F: Fritsch, Mihocek, Melksham

FOLL: Gawn, Steele, K.Pickett

IC: Howes, Langdon, Sharp, L.Pickett, Kentfield

EMERG: Laurie, Heath, Jefferson

I agree I could not believe it when I read his Tmac out comment.

Laurie played 60% TOG, which is what they do now without a sub and capped roations. He didnt have a poor game imo. No change

His disposal was horrid? I thought his decision making was OK at times, but execution was horrible…just don’t see it with Laurie

Generally agree with this Re Petty and somewhat Re T Mac. In my view T Mac has done his job well enough and hasn't actually played that poorly, but not sure he's in quite the same great form that he was last season and I'm seeing more and more moments when his lack of mobility and agility makes him look like a potential liabilty. On the flip side, IMHO, he did do his job and stability and winning games are also important to us.

It's something of a luxury that all of a sudden, we have a batch of developing forwards to pick from and a legitimate developing backup for Max. Personally I don't think it would hurt us to let them keep pushing and putting together a string of form before promoting them on our tems / when the opportunity suits.

The other things that haven't really been spoken about Roo's form was just OK yesterday, but a good fight back from where he's been in recent weeks, so we need to keep the faith. Similarly I hardly noticed Mihocek in the second half, but his consistency and experience keeps him in the side for now for me. AJ also put on a pretty good display for Casey yesterday as well. I think we should be looking to unleash the beast against someone like Hawthorn, Geelong and/or Brisbane where a bit of mongral and extra edge could be important.

If you watch the replay - the amount of ways Mihocek impacted the game that isn’t on the stat sheet was astounding…body work, being ‘in the way’ to let others have a clear run, there were numerous times that he directly impacted a positive play that wasn’t due to his disposal - he’s FAR from being dropped, quite the opposite

I too will spew up, but I’ll spew up with an extra $350 in my pocket. I’ve put a hard-earned hunge on the revolting no-hopers and I’ve never wanted to lose $ so bad in my life. Well since we last played them anyways.

Living on nothing but fresh air and 2-minute noodles for the foreseeable future is a sacrifice worthy of a win over them.

Betting against us ghosty should lead to ur expulsion from the cheer squad 😜.

Shame shame shame 🤩

Yes, but when we’ve Mihocek’s experience and Fritsch’s nous there’s a crunch on spots.

We have to find a balance that gets Jeffo 10 or so games and Luker at least 5 if they’re both healthy.

Plenty of games to go around but some of them might require a rest or trip to Casey for Jake.

The cheer squad is on a need-to-know basis and they really don’t need to know 😉

PS if I haven’t been expelled from the cheer squad already I never will be. I routinely get told off, mainly for leading the teenagers astray. But it’s so much fun 🤭

The 250 Games Trio…

How many cheer squad members are on 'Land?

Not sure. I know there are some who read DL because they call me Ghosty 😅

If we could only win one game a year, I’d lock in Essendon every time.

Worst fans, even after an extended period of [censored] house footy. Arrogant bunch. Terrible club with some of the lippiest ex-player media performers around. Lastly, Sheedy because Sheedy.

Don’t disagree & I wouldn’t imagine both of those players will get a game off - especially if they continue to perform, they just provide so much for the team.

Jefferson had a better statistical game thank Kentfield, but I think Kentfields game translates to the AFL better than Jefferson (he can second ruck) but he’s a much better body on body forward than Jefferson + he’s a better kick than Jefferson. I don’t disagree that you need to get games for these guys + want to get games into these guys, it just might not be at a rate of 10 or 5 in a row, but 2 or 3…

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
