This is bizarre as it just invites speculation from media et al

Should have just put him on the injury list from the get go which is what every other club does when they want to buy time. Ensures if there are other issues it is kept in house.

I can see King being asked at every press conf. He doesn't need the noise or distraction.

I agree, it is bizarre. But as I was told by more than one person, Richo decides these things.

The Casey players are coming out now. Jeffo feels fine and is happy @picket fence

Kalani isn’t playing tomorrow but has been told he’s right for next week but surprise surprise: Casey has a bye next week 🙄

There’s an Easter egg hunt lined up for today. Look out players’ kids, I’ll elbow your little heads outta the way if it means chocolate. JK. I’m an adult.

Melky’s kids are here. Frankie his daughter asked me If I’m gonna wear her dad’s number tomorrow. I said yes but since Luker’s not out here with the Casey boys I’m thinking the #44 might get a gig 🤷‍♀️

I would be astounded if he got a gig on no training for what is it a month??

Laurie in for Fritta is what I make of that.

For the record what is the song?

It’s called I Want Your Soul by Armand Van Helden. It was released about 20 years ago. Spaz has clearly influenced some of the boys in terms of their taste in music. He’s a huge fan of this genre.

How would anyone know that?

Thanks Ghosty.

I lost confidence in him over the last few years. No idea how he has survived.

Yeah that doesn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence… (appreciate the info though)

Luker said he isn’t expecting to play in the firsts tomorrow because they wouldn’t handle his debut that way

Has anybody made a dreadful pun about Filthy Luker yet?

Seems it a bit rough for guys trying to push their case for afk selection when they play, bye, play and yet another bye. [censored] situation for all

He still wearing his Bruce Wayne Halloween costume mask? 🦇

Maybe he is trying to get fired for an early payout trigger? I mean given his performance of late…

Pay that

And if I may say ...

Kalani is very thin

Gawn looks lean and in excellent shap

Culley with the hoodie onlooks like he has walked off the set of a horror movie.

I think Luker will come in for Fritsch.

Laurie is competing with the likes of Sharp, Chandler, Latrelle and perhaps Culley, and is fighting a losing battle with his lack of pace and size.

Would've loved to seen him get more games under Goodwin when he deserved a run at it. Unfortunaly for him I think it's going to be another bridesmaid year as an emergency.

(Now watch me be wrong tomorrow)

Luker hasn't played for 4 weeks, it would be madness to play with limited match preparation and fitness!

We’re going to be extremely tall if we are replacing Jiath, Cross and Fritsch with Turner, Melksham and Kentfield.

If Fritta is out, and Luker isn't in, I guess it's Laurie or Heath?

I reckon they rest Fritta, that's why Milkshake's in the team, so expect either Laurie or Kentfield to play. I reckon Laurie tomorrow and Kentfield in the next round or two.

He didn’t train yesterday.

Is it possible he has a virus and the club is keeping under wraps.

Hoping he might be able to play.?

My wife woke up with one this morning - bit of a basket case now.

Fair point. Though I think Turner can play tall and small, Cross and Melksham are similar medium forwards types while Kentfield would play as a 3rd genuine tall instead of a hybrid. We do lose quite a bit of run in the forward half though so perhaps Laurie will be favoured (assuming Fritsch does come out).

Pretty sure someone was pushing it pretty hard a couple of years ago – monocular?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
