I don’t think I’ve seen a player look as emotionally frustrated as Zach Merrett this year. He must be wondering what the point of it all is.

He is being paid a squillion dollars- go see your accountant and work out where you will invest it - to make more.

That will make him less “emotionally frustrated “

What are the commentators' obsession with Essendon 'winning' the game after quarter time?

Any injuries to essendon players?

Psychologically? Yes, the entire team 😁

Dogs fans are melting down on Bigfooty. 😂

Essendon are still dog [censored]. The dogs went into preservation mode after English went down. Wouldn’t be buying stocks into Essendon at all. If the Dees are switched on next week, we win by 7+ goals

So after a couple of demoralising 10 goal losses it's good to see the Bombers finally turn the corner with a morale boosting 6 goal loss.

I’m on my way to today’s match with my diehard Geelong niece. I’ll be going to several Geelong matches this year because she has nobody to go with and I’m supporting her choice of openly defecting to Geelong in the face of our crazy Carlton family. She boldly chose not to masquerade as a Carlton supporter like Aunt Ghosty did.

But who to barrack for???? 🤔

I’m happy to see either of them lose but spewing one of them has to win 😅

Well, not really, it is question around existence and mortality isn't it... When sport has been your entire sense of self since childhood, and you start bumping up against mortality ...of the career, of relevance/legacy...that's not something an investment portfolio resolves.

Just saw Tmac and his son, and Jordan Lewis at the Hawks Geelong game. (Separately).

Tmac seems like such a lovely bloke, not that I said hi. Good family man.

Do we care who wins out of cats hawks?

Long term maybe yes (this season at least)

There's a top 10 so finishing 7th-10th whilst being important, isn't that difficult to achieve. Certainly not if a club has premiership aspirations

But top 6 aspirations? That can mean that you need certain teams to lose

Unless it's a draw, one team will lose today so maybe a Hawks loss helps us more. Or it could be the other way around

I'm barracking for a draw!

I’m invested now. Cheering for whoever is losing until it’s a draw.

Puddy Tatts letting Dingley run thru the middle of the G unimpeded doesn’t seem like a smart move

Seems to happen often when they play on a proper ground

We're both on the long shot!

You know you truly hate a team when you start barracking for a Geelong team that includes Bailey Smith.

The only winner today will be apathy BoBo.

When faced to choose between two sides I don't like I'll often pick the one with the least ugly guernsey but even that's a draw.

Geelong has a unfair home ground advantage. So the more they lose away the better.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
