CB that might be the worst team MFC has ever put out on the park.

Come on...

Look at the wholesome goodness and complete awesomeness of that half forward line!

An injured flanker who doesn't give a rats about this season, a midget who can't kick, and Godfrey.

And what about that backline... a man with the turning circle of the Titanic and the speed of a turtle on dope, a 26 year old stick figure, and a kid who just had the training wheels taken off his bike.

All this side is really missing is Nicho at FB, and the return of Brent Grgic.

our spine is a comedy. Like others have said, unless we can get an elite power player in their prime holding down either of FF, CHF, or CHB and dominating games we'll never challenge seriously.

Miller after promising much has let the club down oh so badly.

I agree, although I got harrassed by certain posters for having this opinion, interesting that your post goes unnoticed.

i'm sure you all think i'm an idiot putting brown ahead alot of others for the emergency list, but his pace and recent good form gets him there... however if blokes like buckley continue to improve then he might fall back further...

tall line a little forward, dunn to play as a half forward/wing when he gets on...

I am not worried about now but what our team will evolve to in 12 months time and into 2009

B: Bell, Frawley, Carroll

HB:Wheatley ,Rivers, Sylvia

C: Johnstone McLean Bartram

HF: Bruce, Bate, Pettard

F: Davey, Newton, Dunn

R: PJ, Green, Jones,

I/C: Moloney, Garland, Buckley,????

Hopefuls: Weetra and Hayes

Players retiring or finishing their careers by end of season 2008 or start to be fringe : Neitz, Yze, Robbo,Junior, White and others like Ward, Bizzell, Godders, Miller.

I would expect to pick up 5 to 6 players in the draft and hoping that the prime target is a line breaking midfielder and possibly another midfielder with good defensive skills. It would be nice to pick up a combative second ruckman.

I actually think with Newton, Bate, Frawley, Rivers and McLean that the spine is coming together quite well with a fair bit of promise.

in an ideal world, Rivers, Frawley and Bate would be played more as flankers. Rivers floating across half back, Bate across half forward, and Frawley playing against lead up forward like okeefe.

Not sure about Frawley, but agree re: Rivers and Bate.

I still hold a candle to the Miller of old.

Im hoping a new coach will bring back his bite.

I've lost hope. He couldn't kick a goal up forward, now he can't hold a second or third tall down back. All he can do is mark, which is nice, but he needs to work on kicking. Can't see him becoming a quality CHB or CHF (which is what we need).

WHAT!?!?

He always marks out front. I think you mean robbo marks on chest.

Because thats how Miller made a name for himself. Running upfield and taking strong marks out front. Not really many chest marks at all.

how can you put sylvia on the ball before Jones? Jones is much better on the ball than Sylvia. Sylvia would ONLY just slot into a forward pocket at the moment

What our best team needs to look like in 2008 for us to improve IMO is

Whelan Carroll Frawley

Bell Rivers Bartram

Sylvia Mclean Johnstone

Bruce Bate Robertson

Davey Neitz Newton

White McDonald Jones

PJ Buckley Green Wheatley

Moloney Dunn Petterd

The only reason Buckley makes my team ahead of Petterd and Moloney is pace we need someone else besides Davey with speed and he looks to have good acceleration and pace just needs to get better each week over the next 6 and preseason. Frawley has to cement that spot because our other options won't help us go forward. Robbo has to get his knee right and play HFF so we can have two talls on our FF line. This will enable Newton and Neitz to work in tandem great learning for Newton.

this is the best team posted so far

I didn't make this team and don't completely agree with it but it is well known Sylvia is a true on baller.

He is going to be a SUPERSTAR.

He is slowly but surely getting over his injuries. Melbourne are looking to put him on ice for the rest of the season. He is going to be a total force, one of the most aggresive, talented players in the comp. I love Jones. Our hardest toughest midfield will consist of Moloney, Jones and Sylvia.

Sylvia will indeed become a prominant fixture in the demon midfield next year, I guarantee it.

rewatch the tapes the last two years he has mostly been taking them on his chest. this is why his marking is good when on a long lead away from the goals (he has a break on his opponent) but not when it is man on man or when the kick is poor and he has to prop. bate marks in his hands, miller on his chest. have a look.

Why would I watch tapes of past games, when I watch it there everyweek. He cannot be pointed at when you have robbo who could take 10-15 marks per game if he just used his hands.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
