Howes has been impressive

Very impressive.

You can tell the shackles have been released. Providing more run then i have ever seen him

I know we all know how good he can be, but Jack Steele playing well today, could be a very astute pick up if he keeps performing.

Melbourne 8.5.53

Norf 4.4.28

Two goals to Checkers and Kozzy

Singles to Laurie, Fritsch, Kentfield and Chandler

Roo hasn't bulked up 😡.

Mihocek will be doing a lot of the heavy work in the forward line this year

My preseason prediction of Steele winning our BnF looks like safe bet. He's very good and with a healthy body and fresh start he'll be seriously important for us this year onfield as a player and a leader.

Roo has trimmed down to add more running power. He's been training more as a lead up CHF and looking a lot better. Mihocheck and Jeffo the stay at home talls.

CJ hasn't done much wrong so far.

Meanwhile, Kentfield bulldozes a North defender and Chandler picks up the crumbs and kicks his second.

60 plays 29

Big Kentfield really only has one nickname to go by now surely?

We really need another bulky key forward in the event that Mihocek goes down.

Jeffo is not AFL unfortunately

So it seems that Jack Steele and Max Heath are doing well considering we got them in exchange for an expired six-pack of yoghurt and an unreliable TV remote.

My deepest sympathies to St Kilda fans, but at this stage I don't think even Mr Miyagi in a three movie arc could teach Ross Lyon humility.

9.7 - 4.5 22 minute mark.

I think this is Jeffo's make or break year.

He has been doing well at training, goods hands, has a leap and bulking up.

Bit early to judge, with one half of a competitive sim. I'll leave my judgement, till after a few consecutive proper AFL games.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
