Well for a team that's trying to develop a new game style it's less than ideal.

I think state of origin is a total waste of time.

If it goes like it did in past years there will be a big deal the first one and from then on players will feign injury to not play.

Then the gloss goes off and they don't do it until someone thinks its a great idea again.

It's a dumb cycle.

i think having it every few years will essentially keep it from going out of fashion. Or at least rotate the teams involved so Vic only plays every 2-3 years or so. It'll keep it fresh.

I don’t know what a wave cap is, but he was wearing something

Melky distances himself from the spectators. I think that influence may have fired CJ up (re: "smart" reply) as he creates bonds and a laugh for his teammate.

I was referring to posters on here…not the man himself

Apologise for that, I misread the intention.

Any info re: Miochek. Have we drafted an injury prone lemon? People suggested on the Monday thread that he had been doing heaps of training pre Xmas. However, I was at sessions before the break and he was restricted then to cross training. What is the issue?

Maybe, but one serious injury will finish it.

Ditto.

As a kid i liked State of Origin because Robbie would always get selected and always seemed to be one of the best players in any given match.

I love that it’s back — I think it’ll healthy for the game

First I have heard this summer about Lever being in the thick of it.

If you were there, you'd know Lever was out there. It seemed like he never shut up!

Injury list: Viney, Campbell ( neck), Henderson, McAdam ( again..still), Max ( broken finger), Mihocek, and Bowey and Laurie not present. Then some cameo's from Melksham, AMW, CJ at times, although they ran in the match sim.

What's McAdam's issue now? His injury was 11 months ago - shouldn't he be doing something more substantial than light running by now?

Yeah, he had a cap on. It was obvious at the end when we could get close up but before that I took a photo that shows it's a cap.

AFL Academy duo Darcy Szerszyn (Dandenong Stingrays, defender) and Xavier Ladbrook (Gippsland Power, utility)

quoted from Zero Hanger. Heard lots of questions about who the train on players were. The blonde lad has a good jump on him.

Will be a massive bust unfortunately!

Indeed.....the old heads on this site will remember what happened......

Players dropping out before the game with all manner of "injuries", as clubs rightly didn't want to risk their major talent in meaningless games.

There are more than enough which occur during normal pre-season training in this the professional era of AFL. It's not the 1960's any more.

Then the injuries happened in those games, and the clubs became even more disinterested, leading to its abandonment.

History will repeat.

Went early as I had to leave early. When I arrived at 9:10 players were already out, some doing a beep test. Berry struggling.

3 players I didnt see - Bowey, Laurie and Campbell - though Campbell turned up late. And so did Ghosty for that matter.

Miohcek has had a hair cut.

McAdam and Henderson on the bikes and in rehab kit. Everyone else in full training kit.

Rehab, and by this I mean they occassionally dropped out to do specialist drills - Miohcek, Viney, Gawn (finger) Sharpie (hammy)

Onleys nickname is Ron

Chin and Rick in good voice.

Tom Mathews still looks small.

Kossi and Salo had a good stretch with the trainer before starting. AJ had some magic ointment on the back.

I dont think anyone would be surprised that we are practising fast, continuous, ball movement.

Left early.

That one totally went over my head. I thought you were referring to Melksham or CJ as being a smart Alec to you at training today.

How did Ghosty go on the beep test? Did her darts slow her down?

Be still my beating heart:

'Kysaiah looked sharp as he spent most of Wednesday’s pre-season session at Gosch’s Paddock working with the midfield group, while cousin Latrelle is showing some great early signs since being selected at pick 12 in November’s national draft.

Latrelle put some genuine tricks on display during drills, while also setting up Bailey Fritsch for a goal during match simulation.

Latrelle looms as a round 1 chance alongside No. 11 draft pick Xavier Taylor, who has also impressed over summer with his ability to play tall or small in defence and his willingness to take on the play when he wins the ball back.'

Forgot to mention… either Jiath has had a short, short cut or those dreads were glued on!

CJ was wearing a snug-fitting cap, the same fit as a swimming cap. He said there’s no need to ever wonder about him changing his hair coz it ain’t gonna happen. But then, four years ago Big Fish Verrall told me he’d never get rid of his 70s shag ‘do then a couple of weeks later lopped the whole lot off and never grew it back again 😭

Unless it happens mid-game or a now misshapen finger ruins a player's marking or disposal skill i can't help but feel the report on Gawn's finger is fearmongering.
