Spoiler warning: Santaโ€™s NOT real

Saturday 13th December

8:30am - 11:30am

Goschโ€™s Paddock

This isnโ€™t a training session. The players will be there for autographs and photos.

Once the players have left, folks can go on the oval and play kick-to-kick ๐Ÿ‰

Thereโ€™ll be partner giveaways and other freebies.

Food and coffee vans will be there but you wonโ€™t need them because theโ€ฆ

DEMON ARMY SAUSAGE SIZZLE

โ€ฆ is where itโ€™s at! Delicious snags in bread with or without onion and a can of soft drinkโ€ฆ the breakfast of champions!(apologies to Mr. Vonnegut).

And it wouldnโ€™t be a Christmas do without the portly guy in a Santa suit, now would it. You and yours can get photos taken with him.

See yโ€™all there!

Santa IS real !!!

( your understanding of Santa maybe the issue ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

I miss Melbourne so much sometimes.

I'm seriously considering pushing my end of year plans forward a week just to add this to the schedule.

Picturing a Demonstone quiz live. A Ghosty hug booth. Picket Fence giving 'summer slithera safety' training while wearing a guernsey with Clarrie's number and name still on it. And all the Demonland mods getting soused on fine wine and absolutely mouthing off with the details of every scandal ever because they can't be sued for ranting in a park.

And if you like, there'd even been a big area where people eat their snags and speculate merrily about whatever comes up.

And any time there's a lull, the Ashes will be there, doing it's sacred duty.

Uhmโ€ฆ Iโ€™ll have you know I donโ€™t hug willy-nilly. Iโ€™m discerning. ๐Ÿง

We just hope the weather gods look favourably upon us. Unlike Carlton yesterdayโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m just a little concerned about the โ€˜partner giveaways and other freebiesโ€™ that have been promoted.

There are some very generous spouses amongst us๐Ÿ˜œ

It's a Saturday so I'll be going, hoping my daughter will come for something different. Doubt it though.

I'm seriously thinking of doing just that LiL Goffy!!

Ah, at first I thought this was specifically for Demonlanders. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Have fun , guys. Given our age demographic will all of you(/us) be wearing your 90s bands or 'The Goodies' T shirts to help identify DLers you don't know? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Santa is not real.

Bah and Humbug to you.

He is too . It's just unfortunate he supports the Swans.

No soup for you.

Let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas, which of course is to celebrate the birth of Santa.

I saw a clip on the internet which was referencing Clement Clarke Moore's A Visit from St. Nicholas ("'Twas the Night Before Christmas")

"He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump,
a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself ..."

Is he an elf?

Looking forward to it! Tie dye tee and probably my indigenous guernsey for me! I should be no longer jetlagged by then.

Can't get to training on Wednesday (hafta go look at a shed!) but Friday should be good. Pity pre-Christmas training ends so soon.

PS @Ghostwriter , are the bangers gluten and dairy free? I can bring some me-safe bread. Been ages since I had a sausage sizzle.

Unfortunately, no. We used to have gluten-free snags but the demand was so low that we ended up having to throw them out. We still only get one or two requests per BBQ.

See you there <3

Edit: youโ€™ll be at Goschโ€™s on Friday as well? Saturday is the Xmas Meet & Greet at Goschโ€™s. This isnโ€™t a training session.

We also used to have gluten-free bread but it too went the way of the gluten-free snags because of low demand. For a while there I was bringing home my chooksโ€™ weight in gluten-free bread after every BBQ. ๐Ÿ˜…

I will try to be there both days, though if training starts at 8:45 I've not a hope of getting there at the start of it.

If it is sunny, I'll also be wearing my dicky flower hat.

I'd just feed everyone GF sausages. The Coles ones used to be GF, didn't look this time around to see, might not be the best bangers but still good for a feed.

Training on Friday is supposed to start at 10am, but they usually come out at about 9:40

It would be great to get a big turnout for this event. Please try to make it there. Even if itโ€™s for only part of the session.

8:30 on a Saturday morning is early but it will be worth the effort. While youโ€™re all still in your jim-jams at 7am, Iโ€™ll be at Goschโ€™s setting up, so 8:30 is a sleep-in!

Letโ€™s show the boys our love and support! Especially the new guys. Theyโ€™re all working so hard already and theyโ€™d love to see us make the effort to meet them โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

Edit: we will also have cupcakes and bracelets for sale in the DA tent. If youโ€™ve not yet had one of our homemade cupcakesโ€ฆ why not?! Whatโ€™s wrong with you????! ๐Ÿ˜…

Sorry cant make it down again this time.

Have a great day

Iโ€™ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we wonโ€™t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything youโ€™d like to ask or say below and weโ€™ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics youโ€™d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourneโ€™s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time atย Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
