PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 12th November 2025

Featured Replies

Just letting folks know that immediately following the men’s session this morning the W will be running out for a session.

Their session goes from 10:30 - 12:30. It would be great to see spectators hang around for it, even part of it.

I understand not everyone has the luxury of working around training sessions as I do, but the girls are currently in a finals campaign and need more love and support than ever. So, if you can, please stay around for the W.

Love your work Ghosty

Check on Goldy for me please

The W? I know I'm being slightly pedantic here but what's wrong with "women"?

When you marry them

@Ghostwriter are the ladies training tomorrow at Gosch's? In town for AC/DC and would love to get to a session.

Thank goodness for the training reports they just cancelled Moreton zisland due to rough conditions for the ships tenders. Lying up on L14 watching Mufasa Lion King.👍😁

Isn’t supposed to be float and bloat

Thanks for the report.

The Norfolk Island Masters Squash tournament is now the focus for me.

Just careful with loading to ensure peak condition for competition next week.

They won’t be at Gosch’s tomorrow. They’ll be here on Friday morning at 10:30 when the men finish their session.

Had the good fortune to have a chat with Kingy today. He wandered over to the boundary line when he finished putting out the cones for the next activity. My first impressions were that he was personable, straightforward and very tall. He said that training wouldn’t be too intensive in the first few sessions, as the full list joined the group. I mentioned that it was good to see Brodie and AMW progressing so well. He said Brodie was busting to join the main group and it was a battle to hold AMW back until Christmas. I asked him what his first impressions of the training group were. He said he was impressed with the overall fitness. He singled out the Roo, saying he had lost kilos but gained strength. We both agreed that ‘the current # 4’ (Harvey) was set to take the next step. He said that Jai Culley was in the best three on the track on Monday. A few other enthusiastic observers joined in the conversation. He also agreed that Windsor was a standout in the first session. One notable comment he made was about putting up the ‘team’ for round 1 for the players... there were no names on the list!

I arrived at the end of mens training. Very impressed that both teams came together. Ladies team was training well. I had the great pleasure of talking to my great friend the wonderful Ghostwriter. Ghosty tells me that the men trained at great intensity. Also there were no soccer balls at training. I am very pleased that they are practising with afl balls, and not soccer balls. New coach is bringing high standards to training.

Training today was more laid-back than Monday. More about patterns for quick transfer than intense pressure on the ball-carrier. They did do a two-lap time trial. Sharpie was once again the standout in his group, with Tholstrup not too far behind. I noticed that Berry was content to bring up the rear, as he manages his transfer to the elite level.

Goldy trained with the main group. She told me she’s 95% sure she’ll be available this week 🥳

Kolt looked quite trim in some of the training photos, good to hear he was running well

And while we’re at it what’s wrong with “ground” or “Melbourne Cricket Ground” or “Self contained breathing apparatus” or just “apparatus” or “Australian football league” or “Melbourne Football club”’and “demons”!

Ban all acronyms and nicknames!!! We should say everything in full or not at all!

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
