Shamrock Spitfire Movie - Bluey Truscott

Featured Replies

The pilot tragic in me, well I never completed my Commercial Rating, is a sucker for all things Spitfire, 1940, “the few” and so on.

This movie is about first Irish pilot to be RAF Wing Commander, initially in charge of rowdy group of Australian aircrew.

Amazed to see red haired actor introduced as our own Bluey Truscott, 1940 GF mentioned and he’s in rest of movie.

As Keith Miller said “I never felt pressure in a cricket game, cos pressure is a Messerschmitt up you’re [censored]”* if you like all things sporting, celebrating “the few” with a soundtrack of those big Merlins, and our own hero, this is for you.

On PRIME

BTW when working offshore I did fly out of Truscott Airport in far north WA

My grandfather flew Spitfires so I’m the same

A local guy did a documentary which interviewed him - not sure if it had Bluey - will find out

You had me at shamrock ☘️ 💚 🥹

Cheers Radar! My dad is a massive spitfire enthusiast so I'll let him know.

Also had family in both the RAAF and RAF.

Thanks Radar we did a cruise around Australia in 2016 and pulled into Milne Bay and we got to stand on the Airstrip that Bluey Truscott and his Sqdn flew so gallantly against the Japanese invasion forces and was one of the reasons that forced them to abort the invasion. Bluey took over after the origySqudron leader crashed into the jungle and was killed. Great experience, we don’t know enough about Bluey would make a great Movie.🎥

Gunna have to renew my prime 😉 👍 🇦🇺

You just know someone called Paddy...and another Bluey... are gunna raise merry hell.

R.I.P. gentleman...

We dont forget

I saw the movie and was filled with awe when that redhead was introduced as Truscott. And I admit to shedding a tear or two thinking about his achievements on the footy field and in the air, and what an appalling waste of lives the horrors of war bring.
