I have noticed that Isaac Weetra and Heath Neville are the only players on the list now yet to make there debuts.

Do you think that MFC might put one or more rookies on the list and put one or two players on the long term injury list just to see what any rookies have in them for next year?

Your thoughts. :)

To be honest I think that's it for this season... the next player to debut will be one of our high draft picks next season...

IMO there's no point upgrading rookie players for the sake of it. We already have a heap of young kids playing.

Weetra only came to the Club this year - he's nowhere near finished. Neville is probably gone as he's struggled to get a gig for Sandringham 1sts let alone MFC.

So did Newton for the last 2 years. :P

Players like Neaves and Bode are 2nd year rookies, so they will have to be upgraded or delisted at years end. So its not that silly a question to be asking. Bode will most likely be delisted, but it will be interesting to see what happens with Neaves.

I didn't say and don't think it was a silly question. I just don't think any rookies should be promoted to the senior list atm.

That's true. However the circumstances are probably a bit different - Newton came to the Club as a bottom-age draftee and was kicking some bags in the reserves. He also had stiffer competition to get into the 1s (Sautner and the like).

Difference is Newton is a prospect KPP, Neville is a midfielder where it's a lot easier to get a game.

i agree... unless we look at drafting another ruckman i think we will try and trade Jamar to a club where he will get a game, and elevate neaves to the senior list... bode is done i think...

Hayes should be kept on...he's a class above Weetra and Neville....Neville in particular has struggled this year...Bode has done ok..be intersting to see if he's kept on....but I'd definitley perservere with Hayes

I've been surprised by Weetra. He had a few good raps in the preseason but doesn't seem to have found his feet in the Sandy 2's. Hayes is already ahead of him.

Weetra needs time. He's had injuries during the season that haven't allowed him to show what he can do. There still has to be issues with Hayes' attitude

Looks like Bode has been promoted, quietly, and may get a gig soon.

I would also give Weetra at least a couple of games before this dismal excuse for a season ends, even though he is still in Sandringham 2nds.

I am a big fan of Hayes and I think the club needs to keep him, he has been playing not bad recently.

Good to see Newton getting some games under his belt.

I have to admit I was a bit worried about Newton getting delisted at the end of the year because I thought they might not have given him a game, I am so glad they are playing him now he is going to be a gun.

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
