Now that we have a draft order of sorts that isn’t going to depart too far from the one that will apply on the first night of the 2025 AFL National Draft, it’s time for some Phantom Drafts. I found this one on Zero Hanger but it’s hard to navigate through its clicks.

AFL Mock Draft: Picks 1-23 (second edition)

Here’s the first round for your comments:-

Pick 1 - West Coast: Willem Duursma

Pick 2 - Gold Coast (Matched Bid): Zeke Uwland

Pick 3 - West Coast: Sullivan Robey

Pick 4 - Gold Coast (Matched Bid): Dylan Patterson

Pick 5 - Richmond: Xavier Taylor

Pick 6 - Richmond: Sam Grlj

Pick 7 - Brisbane (Matched Bid): Dan Annable

Pick 8 - Carlton (Matched Bid): Harry Dean

Pick 9 - Essendon: Sam Cumming

Pick 10 - Essendon: Dyson Sharp

Pick 11 - Melbourne: Aidan Schubert

Pick 12 - Melbourne: Jevan Phillipou

Pick 13 - North Melbourne (traded with Hawthorn): Cooper Duff-Tytler

Pick 14 - GWS: Josh Lindsay

Pick 15 - West Coast: Jacob Farrow

Pick 16 - Western Bulldogs: Lachy Dovaston

Pick 17 - Adelaide: Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves

Pick 18 - Geelong: Ollie Greeves

Pick 19 - Carlton: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett

Pick 20 - Sydney (Matched Bid): Max King

Pick 21 - Fremantle: Oskar Taylor

Pick 22 - Essendon: Mitch Marsh

Pick 23 - North Melbourne (Traded with Hawthorn): Harley Barker

Always fun to read through them but none are worth the paper they're not written on aside from Twomey's

My criticism is that I don’t believe we should be drafting a tall forward unless one presented himself as absolutely outstanding ie a best available player.

On that basis I wouldn’t take Schubert ahead of Duff-Tytler who some have as high as top 2.

"Daz Talks Footy" had us taking Dovaston and Farrow @ 8:42

I need to watch more of Farrow, seems to have nice traits with size and athleticism

A shame Dursma didn’t play 100 games for FS on both he’s boys & daughter

Wasn’t it their uncle who played for us?

Jamie Duursma played for Melbourne. His brother Dean, father of the current crop, only appeared at Under 19 and Reserves level.

Apologies thx for confirming

Leave it to Taylor as absolute top talent likely to be gone before we arrive.

Personally just like to see us pick up of adaptable ,big strong bodies who are quick, tough competitors and hit targets.

Re smalls we are fortunate to have Viney,Ozzie, Chandler,Tholstrop, Laurie .

The latter two should see more opportunity under new coach.

WA boy. Pass.

Surely we'd take the Duff over Schubert..

We would but Hilary won't be available.

CDT is too good to be passed on by any of the clubs above us. Richmond supporters I know are praying he makes it to them, and even wondering if they can orchestrate a trade from 3 to 2 to grab him. Their ruck depth IMO is less than afl standard (after Nank it’s just Samson Ryan and then untried Mate Colina) and this guy is in that Jackson type basket.

And Essendon just lost their first ruck to FA (would be laughing if they basically gave up Draper for a pick that landed them a better replacement)

JT would call it out in 0.007 second. CDT is a prototype tall utility … ruck/chb/midfielder/chf. He can play anywhere.

That zero hanger 'one pick per reload the page' format is a proper bonfire, thank you for grinding it out for us.

Duff-Tytler sliding would be a marvel and an abomination. I'd happily live trade 6 and downgrade 7 to nudge up a couple of spots to get him.

I feel like we'll be watching the draft with some 'acceptable' picks in mind but desperately hoping for a slider.

@adonski bigfooty's a bit light-on in the phantom drafts this year no? There's only like a few people that are doing them..

Probs be more in the coming weeks as we get closer

Mate Colina

Old Mate has already been delisted at Tigerland.

There is a compelling case for Richmond to snaffle the Duff.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
