Should we expect Langford to become the number 1 midfielder from the word go next season?

Leaving aside the draft for talent verses needs debate.

After our trade period what are the positions/areas that you feel we are still lacking enough quality heading into the draft?

have we removed possible "culture" issues from the team to drive it forward. Lyon likened it to blight coming in a cleaning house at Adelaide before they won those flags.

I believe it's done. I also believe the young kids are able to step up now. Whether they can last a season is another question.

The big question, most likely for the next podcast?
With 5 ont he bench will we get in a second ruck to prolong max's career. Or he needs consistent kicking at goal as he's a monster mark in the forward line.

Is there room for Noah Yze on our list?

With 2 first rounders next year and apparently room in our salary cap who should we target?

According to Tim Lamb the club is under new management with a flush of key appointments. Will this translate to immediate on field improvement or will the competitive reset take multiple seasons?

We have been rated B+ down for our trade period.

Would you agree, and if not, why not?

(I would rate us an A - problems out, replacements in, needs addressed and a handful of draft opportunities. The proof is in the Pudding, and I think with out the chef and the fruitcake, the pudding should be sweeter…)

We've just traded out two of the best ever players to pull on the red and blue.

Reactions on demonland seem to fall into two broad categories: good riddance or gutted. Many of us are totally confused.

Could you spend a few minutes unpacking the reasons for us, and how and with who are we going to replace them?

I’m really looking forward to this pod guys. Thank you!

I’d love the panel’s views around what each of our newbies can be expected to bring to our TEAM in 2026 and beyond.

PS. I understand that my request is likely to be subsumed by the range of great questions above.g

How would you compare the 2025 team to the 2026 team? Stronger/weaker/similar?

I think we significantly underperformed last year, but should we hold out much hope for next year?

Hey guys, I’ve got to ask you this: Melbourne gets three first-rounders for Petracca because the Suns wouldn’t trade Bailey Humphrey. So what are we saying here — is Bailey Humphrey genuinely worth the equivalent of three first-rounders? Or has Melbourne just pulled off one of the smartest list management plays we’ve seen in years?”

Undoubtedly, your esteemed panel will discuss the trade deals, including the significant ones involving Trac and Clarry, which have been extensively documented in the media. It is unfortunate to see two great superstars of the game depart simultaneously, and I am particularly disappointed by the dramatic decline in fortunes of Clarry. I wish him well for the future, but one intriguing aspect of the trade deal is the amount of his contract that Melbourne will be paying him over the next five years. Initially, it was stated that Melbourne would cover half of his contract, but negotiations on this point persisted for over a week. Will the exact amount ever be disclosed? If not, would it be worth inquiring about this at the AGM?

What does the panel think that King will bring to the table in terms of game style, game plan, position changes? We've seen the trade period and what it's brought, though perhaps the changes were more out of necessity than structure to support the game that he wants to play. Given everything we've seen so far from the King era, what would we expect the game and team to look like come round 1?

Given the currently available arithmetic 6 players into 5 list spots does not compute. Potentially three draftees to the senior list and two rookies to the rookie list, purportedly White and Sinnema. Does Noah get a train on invitation over the pre-season? Last pre-season two blokes succumbed to long term injuries and were replaced by Jack Henderson and Jai Culley. Plus there is a further opportunity mid-year. Meanwhile he has to keep on doing what he has been doing best, consistently, to get the eye of the recruiters and the new head coach. I personally rate him as a prospect. The rest is in the lap of the football gods.

This is not a palace coup for a spot of the pod! edit

It's interesting how often our recruiters have tried to re-home top ten draft picks that haven't remotely realised their potential at their first club (such as Billings and Schache and plenty more). I've kept thinking it made sense doing this and we've just been unlucky. But if you look back over many drafts this strategy just hasnt worked for clubs. The recycled players that work either already showed promise or were later picks. Hopefully we stop this strategy.

BTW this old article helps illustrate my point. It's also interesting how often a top 10 pick turns out to be ordinary.

After listening to the POD and gaining an insight into the panelists views. The answer l’m seeking falls between George’s pessimism 3-5 years to challenge and Binman’s optimism for some improvement next year.

Is the mid-twenty cohort sufficient to support the new additions, as the senior players time is called?
