AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8

Featured Replies

I understand the need for player versatility as we look to change the way we play. Last year we started to show we can move the ball quickly (not often enough) but again on many occasions we fumbled at the last kick inside our fwd 50. For years we have struggled with kicking to a forward, forwards knowing when and where to lead, forwards getting separation from each other, a key target, small forwards being at the drop of the ball & locking the ball inside our forward 50. Weโ€™re trying to address these issues with a new coach / game plan and already we have some personnel changes but we need more. Ideally we could use one or both the picks we got for Trac on gun mids but as we know theyโ€™ll be gone by the time our picks arrive. I think we should draft Nairn and Pickett and focus on mids next year. Get it done Dees.

Am i the only one that doesnt see it in Nairn?

Had 1 good game in the U18 champs and now hes going to be pick 7 or 8???

I would prefer Josh Lindsay by a mile, his kicking is sublime, exactly what we need.

I reckon we go hard at trying to trade in a pick for Pickett. Just my feeling.

Weโ€™ll go Nairn, Farrow and try hard for Pickett

I think Pickett is more a Demonland pipe dream than anything else..

The only way we get Pickett in my opinion is to miss out on one of Farrow and Nairn by trading down the order.

I also suspect at this stage that is the most likely scenario in which we'd obtain Pickett. Somewhat disappointing, as I would be comfortable selecting him on potential alone at Pick 8, but I also really like Farrow/Nairn. Also, if we grabbed HH at P37 or whatever it comes into, would alleviate most of the disappointment - he's been one of the players I've had on the wish-list for a while now.

I hate how Twomey knows exactly how the top 10 or so will go. Whereโ€™s the fun in that!!!!

Itโ€™s like knowing what you are getting for Xmas ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿ˜ก

With good planning you should know what you are getting for Xmas to avoid the present they liked but.....

Surely Roy Boy you send Santa a note or a hint!

And whilst we are on the Christmas theme I thought it had come early when I saw 7 and 8 will get their jumpers from Hassa Mann! ( brought back some great memories.)

Our recruiters are experts in studying young talent and have a high strike rate % at the top end. They wouldn't be "fooled" by one good game. I am totally OK with whoever they pick I am every year .

agree totally. We had a father son last year kick 7 for Casey, and on that basis he would be picked

To be fair he also had back to back 30 disposal games on the wing late in the season which seems to have caused his rise

I donโ€™t think youโ€™re taking a crafty medium forward at 7 or 8 - youโ€™re taking a player you project can become threat up the ground, whether thatโ€™s as a wing, half forward or even inside mid

And FWIW I donโ€™t know if Iโ€™m convinced yet either, but JT and some of the clubs picking after us clearly are

If WC presented us an offer of 13 and a f2nd for 7 to take Farrow, how would we feel about that?

So you end up likely getting Dovaston or Lindsay instead of Farrow, and then a future 2nd round 2026 to help land Bailey Humphrey. Keep talking โ€ฆ

Move over Chris from Camberwell, here comes Nairn from Narrm

Tigers thinking about taking Grlj after Cumming at pick 4* would really change the landscape of the night for us ๐Ÿ‘€

Rich: Cumming, Grlj
Ess: Robey, XT

Sharp available?

Donโ€™t think the Bombers would be prepared to risk letting Sharp go. Given the amount of teams who will offer us a myriad of options to move in and grab him before them at 9*

Edited by BC_1718_DC

That would be interesting, could mean we are still picking from Sharp , Nairn and Farrow

but just maybe Ess would prefer to secure Sharp meaning one of X Taylor or Robey would slide to us ?

Or do Ess , still take Robey and Taylor and hope that we don't take sharp or trade to someone else that wants him ?

will be interesting still think we end up with Farrow and Nairn but who knows

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

Itโ€™s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle โ€“ perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
