Petracca for GC pick 6 & 17

No. No. No.

with extra compo and allocated father son and academy priority, they drop to 11 and 25 most likely.

It’s either

Trac & pick 27 FOR Humphrey & pick 14

Or a bare minimum

Trac FOR 6 & 14 plus a player like Rogers.

Or

TRAC STAYS AT MFC

Trac is an elite player. Read his bio and 2025 performances.

If Flanders is worth pick 7 Tracc is worth 4 first rounders

I wouldn't be surprised if we look to use Petracca + 23 in a deal with GC.

More than happy if it's for Humphrey. Not so much if it's just for pick 7 and 17.

Although apparently it was alluded on here that we have interest in Rogers? He'd be a good get.

We want Humphrey, we can't open the discussion to just picks or picks and Rogers because as soon as we do Humphrey is off the table.

We need to run the clock down on Humphrey and be prepared to retain Petracca.

Yeah I think St Kilda has given up too much. He's not worth pick seven and he's not a $900,000 a year player

Overall I agree with you, but contextually we may need to consider that St Kilda have an extremely busy period so they may have wanted to get this done with minimal fuss and / or the 'overpayment' is indicative of the weakened draft talent this year (though this is kinda at odds with GC not necessarily needing picks / first rounders).

I agree and it's quite clever by the selling club to let the market 'woo' there player first and basically make the club commit. It's rare they back out once they've made the effort to meet with the player and manager and promise them the world.

I always wonder if there is a scale the clubs use (or an industry standard) to judge the currency of trading for picks. For example, does a $900k player being traded equal a pick 6-10? Does a a $650k player (McVee) equal a pick 19-25?

Clubs would need some of knowledge on the cost they'd have to stump up if they're going to woo a player with contracts in excess of $1m wouldn't they?

It's what I don't with 'the filth' entering the chat for Humphrey.

In unrelated news I just walked past Ed Langdon. I think it was Ed Langdon anyway (it happened pretty fast).

I hope it was him, or at the very least, the dude’s name was Ed.

lol ... you had brokeback mountain moment it seems

Personally think it's gone past that point, mate. I think the most beneficial time for that to occur would've likely been over either the 2023 or 2024 trade period.

i tend to agree myself. im happy to let him go, but would genuinely love to know the exact issues he has/had

Christian Petracca was won over by Damien Hardwick’s premiership aspirations and determination to hone the 29-year-old’s leadership skills as the Suns continue working on a trade for the Norm Smith Medallist.

The Suns are adamant they will get a deal done with Petracca, who chose Gold Coast over Adelaide after a careful list analysis and meetings with both clubs.

The trade for Suns midfielder Sam Flanders has secured St Kilda’s No. 7 draft pick, which shapes as the centrepiece of any Petracca deal.

While Melbourne teammates wondered if Petracca pulled back from fully investing in the Demons after his aborted trade of 2024, he still finished second in the club’s best-and-fairest this year.

Hardwick was able to bring together differing personalities as leaders in his time at Richmond, with Trent Cotchin, Jack Riewoldt and Alex Rance all pulling in the same direction after the club’s reset in late 2016.

All those players had their unique quirks and strengths but Hardwick was able to maximise their leadership gifts as the Tigers rebounded from a trio of elimination finals exits to win three flags from 2017-2020.

In the same manner Hardwick has pledged to use Petracca’s leadership skills in a young midfielder that includes captain Noah Anderson, Matt Rowell, Touk Miller and Bailey Humphrey.

Petracca can at times wear his heart on his sleeve but is determined to find a new home which will value his unique onfield and passion off the field.

He has four years left on a deal worth around $1.3 million a season with Petracca yet to ask for an extension of a fifth season if he arrives at the Suns.

List boss Craig Cameron said on Monday those conversations were yet to be had but seemed open to discussions on the length of his contract.

When Hardwick met Petracca weeks after the club’s semi-final loss he was still filthy about losing to Brisbane in that clash, adamant his side was capable of more.

If Petracca and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan both arrived at the club and were able to put together full seasons in a team that will welcome academy picks Zeke Uwland and Dylan Patterson the Suns will be hard to stop.

Melbourne will continue in its attempts to drag Bailey Humphrey out of the Suns despite the Gold Coast hard-line attitude that he will not be traded under any circumstances.

The Hawks would likely be prepared to offer up two first-round picks for Humphrey if he became available but at this stage the Suns are not yielding on any rival interest.

Petracca would play a similar mid-forward role to his time at Melbourne but after being pushed out of the centre square late in 2025 there would be plenty of centre square opportunities.

Petracca and wife Bella were both happy to move interstate to seek a fresh start and genuinely considered Adelaide as a new home.

But in the end Hardwick’s pitch and his desire to play in another side capable of winning a flag saw him and Bella choose the Suns.

While Melbourne has made clear it will only trade him for the right price, the Suns view is that the Demons are happy to move on from him as part of a cultural overhaul that will also see the club trade Clayton Oliver.

Both lied to their respective clubs .. Hardwick was having conversations with the suns & so was Trac, both selfish

The fish rots at the head.

Just wondering if the prospect of playing in a list containing JUH makes GC$ a more or less attractive place for CP5 and or Bear???

Please tell me why Rogers will be a good get? I don't know him from a bar of soap, but he averages 7.2 disposals a game playing a role similar to Spargo i believe. Spargo averaged 11.2 disposals a game and we on DL canned him for not getting the ball enough. So honest question - why would he be a good get?

I didn't can him. He will be an important role player if he comes.

I wasn't responding to you Adam. I was responding to @Random Task by asking a simple question - as I have no idea on Rogers.

But you didn't answer my question anyway.

I know.

And I've answered it elsewhere.

Rogers is a dynamic small forward / mid who has very nice skills by hand and foot, but as of AFL level so far, is not a big ball winner.

Not a lot of exposed form but a rough comp might be Darcy Jones GWS

Rogers stats are all below average, 172 cm, a foot smaller than Harold Sharp, not even a giveaway.

2 and a half feet shorter than Mason Cox! 2 and a half inches taller than Caleb Daniel!

I was going to buy tracs cookbook, but his gold coast fans can buy it now.

However I'll still cook his steak taco recipe because it was so good.

On the GC, unfortunately the favourite cooking recipe is for crystal meth!!

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
