Farewell Christian Petracca

Featured Replies

If MFC are moving from the starting point of half the posters here of 'Tracc wont be at the Dees in 2026' then why would the Suns think they cant get away with any old deal?

The threat of us comfortably holding Tracc to his contract is literally all we have in this negotiation.

The thing that will be done with that deal is our club and memberships in the next two years

Players taken with similar picks to p7 and 8

P7 Caleb Windsor

P11 Xavier Lindsay

For

They were stronger drafts and that was also their final position in the draft

Picks 7&8 for Trac & 24&29. No !!!

Dees said “No” to just picks.  Lamb said we will need to be satisfied. Dees must show that we will not back down !!   Remember who PETRACCA is.  He’s elite.  Look at his “comeback” year.  Runner up in B&F.  16 Brownlow votes across 10 games.  Picks !?! That’s a joke.  Unless the Suns get serious, Trac might just stay a Demon !!! Keep the pressure on.

A 30 year old on huge coin that no one except the Suns want to touch, that Petracca?

As has been pointed out by numerous posters, no we didn’t.

Getting tiresome now.

They are unknowns in a widely reported weak draft - one we already stated we don't want to be involved in!!

Please show me where we stated this.

The truth-bending on demonland is out of control at the moment.

I still think we need to throw the kitchen sink at jed Walter if Humphrey is going to be held to his deal

offer him a 6 year deal, he walks into our team on good money rather than being stuck behind king/read/jamara indefinitely

Pick 7 and a gun young key forward to light up the MCG feels like the sort of return we actually need

Plenty would touch him but he nominated GC and we are negotiating with them in good faith.

I agree Ted.

We say it’s Humphrey or 7 and Walter with nothing back, end of story.

We need to put it bluntly, you want our best player, a champion who is contracted. Our Coach actually wants him to stay.

You want him, but you don’t want to trade fairly.

We tell them our membership wants him to stay. We will get crucified if we do your deal, end of story.

We get BH or his manager to tell them you are showing no compassion to him in his difficult family situation. That will cause him to leave you at the first opportunity and he won’t care about you then, as you don’t care about him now. He won’t be able to concentrate on his footy. His team mates and any prospective player will know how you operate. Does that help your culture?

Btw our guy is a champion and our best player with all his achievements, BH and Walter are potential, not champions.

I would then tell Tracc to go to work with GC as they insulting you and your value. If we don’t get this done as above you are staying. It’s up to you and GC.

Petracca is coming off a serious injury and needed this season to get his confidence back, next year he will most likely be back to top 10 player you don't give that up for picks, and especially not give up picks to satisfy the suns for their academy players aswell, it on them to satisfy us.

Dees just need to say... if Humphrey or Walter plus a top 10 pick are not part of the deal... don't waste our time we will find another suitable club

Fully agree, except rather than say we will find another club tell them we can revisit the trade next year. Trac has asked to explore his options rather than us wanting to trade him.

Humphrey as part of the deal is first preference. Hopefully we can persuade the kid to come to us

my second preference are 2 top 10 picks which the Suns can provide

i haven't paid any attention to Walter so can't comment on whether worth including in the deal

20 y old, 195 cm key forward, played 20 games around a goal per game stuck behind a few at the suns, but is from the gold coast academy

But what sense, in the Walter scenario, does recruiting Mihocek then make? I honestly think it’s BH or go home.

Water is developing much like Roo, I don't rate Jefferson. Mihocek will lead the forward line for 2 ears then hopefully these boys are ready to take over, I think overall our key posts will look really strong if we add Walter.

From there I'd be looking at half backs with speed and good disposal in the draft.

We have 2 developing KPFs in JVR and Jeffo so i don't think this is an area of need for us particularly now that we have signed Mihocek

if we were to take him on we are essentially saying Jeffo not up to it (he's a 50/50 proposition at this stage)

Also, if i was a KPF like Walter i'd want to back myself to make the Suns team and play on the 3rd best defender. Better environment to develop rather than joining our dysfunctional forward set-up (which hopefully King can sort out sharpish). Even if we wanted Walter i don't think he would want us.

I suppose if we got Walter, you would look at going after WC pick 2, to get a top kid, by possibly trading JVR back home, using the Clarry pick and maybe adding Woey and Laurie or more picks or some combination of all the above.

With Walter, Mihocek, Petty, Kentfield, JVR, AJ and even now Heath, who also plays forward, you would have too many key forwards.

However, I don’t see us getting Walter.

Nothin new

Melbourne could end up reaping Gold Coast’s No.7 and 8 draft picks for Christian Petracca this season but first will have to concede star half forward Bailey Humphrey is off limits.

Gold Coast and Melbourne are yet to have detailed talks about a trade for Petracca but it would now be a shock if he did not play for the Suns.

The Suns secured pick 7 by trading Sam Flanders to St Kilda and are open to moving on pick 8 as the club amasses points for academy picks Zeke Uwland and Dylan Patterson.

Gold Coast has been steadfast that top 10 pick Humphrey is not up for trade despite meeting Demons coach Steven King.

So if the Demons want to bolster their draft hand — they currently do not have a first-round pick — they could take the Suns early selections and then hand back enough points to help Damien Hardwick’s side.

The media are pushing hard for us to take the picks.

Bailey Humphrey deal unlikely to happen IMHO

That could be the Suns pushing that to the media.

It’s now up to BH and his Manager.

If they are not 100% in, it won’t happen.

Unfortunately Jefferson doesn't have the aggression needed to be a Afl forward, hasn't really done much at Vfl level to be honest, when has has got multiple goals it's always uncontested stuff that your not ganna get much off in the big time.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
