The mark of a great midfielder is being able to kick goals. In the modern game it's a must.

Lachie Neale, Matt Rowell, Caleb Serong, Max Holmes, Jordan Dawson, Tom Green, Will Day all apparently not much chop then?

Hey now, Zak Butters kicked a goal in 2025, and I bet it was a really good one, too.

But seriously, just adding some noise to your point - there's a completely even spread of goalkicking from the collection of the top midfielders. It point to a role and a style, not to quality.

0.3 to 0.4 - Bailey Smith, Andrew Brayshaw, Finn Callaghan, Zach Merrett,

0.5 to 0.6 - Noah Anderson, Tom Green, Patrick Cripps,

0.7 - Nick Daicos, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Hugh McLuggage

Above that it is who? Chad Warner, Marcus Bontempelli, Isaac Heeney and Kysaiah Pickett?

For all that, Clary only just scraped into the top 100 for score involvements, and that does point to a problem when it is a prime mover in your midfield.

1+1 will not equal 2 in this situation.

Oliver having a good or great year at GWS does not mean regret and it certainly does not mean he would have had the equivalent output at MFC. If anything it will justify moving him on being best for club and player/person.

In my view both were too comfortable in the existing situation. Granted he would have had a new coach as a changing factor but the time to cut our losses for the overall good was still the best move.

To me it was a simple decision.

Clarry was the biggest player problem in the club, by a mile.

His huge salary was for 2021 Clarry, not current Clarry, that was another problem.

Where did we finish the last two years with him?

We brought in a bunch of new players in the last couple of years, who would be judging us and what we stand for, the culture had to be improved.

The locker room is now happier and if you talk to the track watchers, they have seen a happier squad training.

Good luck to Clarry, but much better luck to the Dees.

Clarrie was at Marty Hore’s wedding yesterday. A close friend of mine was also there. She told me Clarrie is looking great and he told her he’s currently really happy and he’s settling well in Sydney. He has no animosity towards the MFC.

Clarrie is enjoying reuniting with Tobes (Bedford) and they spend a fair bit of time together. He mentioned a few other teammates who he has become close to. No mention of Jake Stringer.

I am putting $100.00 on Clarry to win the 26 Brownlow at $81.00 total potential return $8,100.00.

This wil be the LAST thing I will say on this thread.

You also promised us that you'd stop posting at all if Clarry was traded. Doesn't do much for your credibility, champ.

Speaking to Clarry at a Hore's wedding sounds like a weird punchline. 🙄

I don't care how he goes at GWS

I agree, what l do care about is the $600k we are paying him & his lack of respect for the club that bent over backwards for him

Good, not great. Not up there with the truly elite midfielders of the 21st century.
