Its all happening now..

Ur gonna get carpel tunnel by the time trade weeks over dazzlenko

How on earth are Hawthorn going to do deal for Humphrey and Merrett?

How are the Pies going to do a deal?

Well sorry Gold Coast, guess Petracca is not getting traded then.

Also Humphrey can come out and request a trade, which throws a spanner in the works. His manager is probably trying to increase the offers here from other clubs.

We had no plans to trade Trac either, but life happens.

We still don't have plans to trade Trac. He has asked to explore his options and the club have said that while we have plans for him to play for us next year we would consider a trade that benefits Melbourne. I suspect we will drive a hard bargain for both Flanders and Humphries if they want Trac and sweeten the deal by offering the Clarry pick and potentially a swap of picks and or involve another player.

Yeah righto so his manager had no idea he was catching up with Melbourne.... sure sure

they've botched this trying to keep it quiet!

Now just declare Melbourne and get it done.

The King relationship at GC might just be the boost we need.

I hope so. Because that's all we have over the other 3 clubs sadly.

We also have the currency to trade and the cash. I have heard Carlton is all in for Butters next year and with the changes to the father son rules they will need their picks next year for Codie Walker

Humphrey has the potential to be what trac was in the next few years, no chance gc give him up even for trac

They want to win a flag NOW tracc can help with that... we set the price

Yeah that's true from the GC side of things, not from Baileys. We need him to pick us before anything else matters.

Fingers crossed!

I had a quick look at the Gold Suns equivalent of Demonland and the two members logged in are worried and highly rate Humphrey.

One of them is probably Dimma.

Well done Mr King. Leaving no stone unturned in trying to increase our talent. I hope this pays off, I love the approach.

This is the ballsiest trade period I can remember from Melbourne.

Correct i just hope they had a plan not just winging it as they go.. I get the new game plan, new coach, new midfield but unless these guys were absolutely toxic, I'd hope we'd keep it professional enough and go about moving on our past champions in thr right way.

This is the best chance we’ll have of landing a big fish for a while with King’s connection to the two Gold Coast boys. With players coming from pretty much any other club we can’t compete.

Flanders is a salmon but Humphrey’s a marlin.

If they both opt for elsewhere it’s going to be a bleak little few year period.

Was all looking promising till they said we are 1 of 4 clubs !!!!

We rarely are anyones No 1.

You understand that Humphrey is contracted and Gold Coast don’t want to lose him.

4 clubs can all want him, but so far only one has something that would pry Humphrey out of their cold dead hands.

Unless Collingwood, Hawks or Carlton can magically offer them a Trac alternative, he won’t go anywhere.

Of course he still has to want to come to Melbourne. Because the same is true the other way, GC can’t force him to move to us.

This is basically why Adelaide couldn’t get the Trac deal done. They had no assets. So all nice to say we want a contracted player, but it has to be mutually beneficial for both clubs.

Great post.

It's worth also noting draft picks are uniquely unappealing to the Suns. they'll get another 2 top 5 prospects from their academy again, after multiple years of guns coming in.

A couple of picks from the Hawks, Blues, Pies mean next to nothing to the Suns beyond points for matching a bid.

They also seem to have prioritised Trac over Curnow

I would take an educated guess and say that Humphrey only leaves the Suns if it's the only way the Suns can get the Trac deal, and even then i think we'd be pushing for Humphrey and a pick as well for Trac.

Flanders is a flounder and Humphrey's a bear.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
