They don’t need picks, they need Trac and will posture on Humphrey until the last moment they can no longer.

Correct. You sell Bailey to another club and you jeopardise a trac deal.

It feels like a last hour of the trade period who blinks first scenario.

I'll predict the final trade though.

Bailey Humphrey and pick 7

for

Christian Petracca and pick 24, 28, 42

essentially the players are a straight swap and we swap points picks for the high end pick.

we get a gun young player and a top 10 pick

they get Trac and their Academy guys

What about white and Sinema?

they're going to go incredible late, or be rookies. we'll have late picks for them.

Sinema i doubt will get a bid at all, and if White does it'll be really late.

Is he? Is that not being reported in the media?

I would assume they will still be standing firm publicly. This one will be a late trade. We’ll either come away with two high picks and change, Bailey (and an exchange of picks high and low) or see you at Gosch’s on Day 1 Trac.

We may have to attach future picks to this deal in order to make it work.

Something like Trac, Pick 23 and Future Second for Humphrey and Pick 7 works, and still allows us to get White, Sinnema, Mihochek and Heath as well.

Otherwise I can also see a scenario where we don’t get pick 7 and this maybe becomes a later first round pick from either the suns or elsewhere, if they do end up splitting a pick.

If this happens... big IF ( that is Humpty Bear for Tracc) then thats pretty much how i see it too. ( or similar )

We do however need points ourselves. Pretty sure we'll cover that somehow.

Top 10 pick this year, 1st rounder next year, 2nd rounder this year and next. Offload Cam McKenzie if necessary. More than enough to get it done if they want.

What they have in stock for the Merrett trade can just be shifted to GC for BH if they really wanted him.

The stance is to protect their 'price' .This is brinkmanship... nothing else.

Tis horsehaggling 101

It’s not a thing, TJF. Gold Coast want Trac. Hawthorn don’t have Trac. I think it’s that simple.

If GC sell Humphrey to Hawthorn, we walk on the Trac deal. Then they go in to 2026 with no Humphrey and no Petracca - in a season they’re priming for a flag push. They have no motivation to deal with Hawthorn.

Gold Coast don’t need / want any of those things

They have the picks right now to get their drafting done

They want Trac, does Hawthorn have Trac?

The only way they may pivot, and it’s a bit may, is if they can trade Humphrey and get Curnow in exchange

You don’t get a player of Trac’s ilk to publicly commit to you, only to blow the deal by trading your one negotiating asset to a different club for something you don’t want

their pick might not be top 10 this year by the time it actually comes up.

but i mean any deal containing Christian Petracca is going to be better than any deal containing 2 draft picks and McKenzie.

Gold Coast are unique in the draft picks don't mean as much to them as other clubs.

Correct

And who says Cam McKenzie even wants to go to Gold Coast? And why do they need him given the youthful talent they have coming out of their butts?

7 more days of this. There's no GiF that combines all the emotions and thoughts that will roll through my head and this thread in that time. It's triple, maybe even quadruple GiF time and I simply must check out and do some work today. For those that might try to roll out a multiple GiF post be very careful, there's a lot of very edgy people on here atm.

More than enough for a player they are absolutely adamant they want to retain?

I'd be a little bit surprised.

As long as Bailey is pushing hard we are in with a big chance

The choice for Suns is Trac or Bailey. I reckon they will plump for Trac.

Of course all predicated on the assumption we will hold Trac to his contract. We can't fold in this regard.

we simply cannot miss the opportunity to obtain a player of Bailey's class. These opportunities are rare. don't botch this MFC

GC don’t want picks from this year - they don’t need them as they already have enough to bid on their academy players

We also have just as many future picks as the Hawks, and everyone in the league would bet our future picks would be worth more

Not sure where this myth that the Hawks have great draft capital is coming from - the only thing of worth they have is pick 8 (or whatever that is now), which again, the Suns won’t be interested in

Only us - or Carlton if Curnow becomes a possibility again - have an asset they want

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
