Petracca didn't request a trade last year either. In fact I'd go as far as saying that Humphrey's agitating this season is pretty much identical to how Petracca handled last year, except Petracca wasn't making social media posts about it.

He did request a trade this year after the club gave him permission to explore his options. You just like Humphrey more because he's happy to play for Melbourne while Petracca no longer does.

I have a distinctly different recollection about Petracca's 'handling' of the situation last year. Whilst he didn't officially request a trade - most likely on the advice of his player manager. What he did do was:

  1. He threatened legal action against the MFC around his treatment during Queen's birthday. Basically, initiated an AFLPA investigation of the incident - which was curiously'dropped' / disbanded once a level of reconciliation / agreement had been reached.

  2. Separated from his management.

  3. Didn't attend the Best & Fairest, instead opting to travel to the Red Bull Fitness camp.

  4. Was Leak City Central with all the information that was coming out on the club during trade period about himself and others.

What have we heard about Merrett in the last few weeks? Or even Curnow? Yes there have been mumblings, but i think people forget the amount of scrutiny the entire club was under last trade period. It wasnt just about Trac, but it seemed that every hour something was getting leaked. it was an all out media ambush - that just doesn't happen on its own.

Exactly right! You have a player that wants to come home, we have a player that wants to come to you.

If you don't want to do it now, let's all just hold firm and wait till next year when you might re-think...or just pony up and do it now, he's already said he will come home eventually.

what's stopping them from offering a worse deal now

I'm not sure what you mean? Your suggestion was that we pretend to walk away from the trade table and then come crawling back if they don't give us Humphrey. That means that they would call our bluff and know we are desperate to move Petracca on. So they would know that they can offer us less.

If we are actually willing to pull the pin then we need to have the mettle to see that out for better or worse.

This is such an obvious trade now player for player, both want to move to the other state, I mean it doesn't get any more straight forward than that does it.

More info, pls, Layz!

That aussie poker player who won on the poker tour about 15 years ago.

Look, one liners on DL aren't all first round picks if you catch my drift!

Take Tracc off the table, tell them we want Humper, be willing to hold Tracc if they don't come to the party, worst case scenario we visit this again in a year's time. Suns need this trade, we don't, Getting 7 and 8 in a weak draft and handing Tracc and 24 over is a massive fail.

I'd rather potentially have an upset Tracc at the club and give ourselves every chance to land a young gun. Our heads need to be turned as Lamb stated.

its the only way to force this move now

worst comes to worst we can get back to the table and accept the picks. no downside

I agree.. but isn't that what we've been doing? Ie King said he's aware of Petracca wanting to explore options and we'll only entertain that if its in our best interests... and if not, he is keen to work with Trac next year?

I agree. it's the only leverage we have so we have to be prepared to follow through on it.

If we are intent on trading Trac irrespective then there is no incentive for Suns to be reasonable at all hence my original comment

There is now talk of Gawn having Humprey over for Fondue tomorrow

Make of this what you will

How many other clubs can say theyโ€™ve met with BH twice (him coming to see us, not the other way around) and heโ€™s had a medical?

Is there proof of a medical or second meeting?

Yeah but BH posted โ€˜take me homeโ€™ on an Instagram story so these two situations are the same

Sounded more filthy at the Suns than I was expecting but also pretty resigned to the fact that they won't be changing their mind.

Dumb list management from the Suns. Humphrey's not going to be worth more in 12 months when he's even further back in the pecking order.

Yeah but pick 7 and 8 this year are trash for the suns

If they do say no to Humphrey but are offering 7+8 I'd still take it. The club should only be concerned about doing the best deal for the club, I think moving Petracca on and getting some top talent in fits that MO.

They can trade them to other clubs for future picks that would give them some decent currency next year.

I would settle for that as well

but getting Humphrey would be better

and i reckon suns want Trac and if push comes to shove will trade BH to us

at least i think they will. only one way to find out

Thatโ€™s rubbish, you will still get 2 awesome players at 7 and 8. The draft at the top end is still very good m, it just dries up earlier

He meant trash for the suns as in they arenโ€™t needed for Suns to acquire their talent. Theyโ€™d be wasted.

If Trac didnโ€™t choose GC then GC would be trading both picks 100%.

Agree.. 2 x ten picks is a good outcome. Chances are that one of these picks will be a star

Who says we are desperate to move Petracca on???

No one. Close it down and stick it up the Media and that smug little Hardwick on the way out.

Compare 7 & 8 to what Swans are offering for Curnow who is only one year younger than Trac and hasnโ€™t played a decent finals game from my recall!

Will Hayward

Florent

Pick 11

Future first for Curnow & late pick in return

Suns need to pay up with Humphrey or can go and take a hike!

Are you saying 2026 will be the dawn of the delicious new snack the Max Cheese Humphrey? Followed by the release of the dessert based 2027 Max Chocolate Humphrey?

Because if you are, where do I invest?

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
