I work with one of Flanders mates.

Flanders stated St Kilda to him last he heard.

He also says that Flanders doesnโ€™t care where he plays, wants to be near family.

Find out the goss come on!!

Can someone explain to me why GC didn't bother using Flanders in the midfield? And why are they ok with letting him go? And why are only a few ****ty clubs chasing him?

Go back a few pages and read the extensive post/s answering this question.

I'd like to get him, but if Essendon/Saints nab him, at least we can show an interest in that first round pick in the Trac deal.

Pickers on Trade Radio pretty much just said that according to his mail, Flanders to St Kilda is happening.

Journos are more in the know than Fan Forum sources.

I'm not surprised. Flanders having a courtesy coffee with King and Jones this morning was probably to tell them of his decision.

Well unless we get Humphrey, Petracca stays

Surely, SURELY, the Suns wonโ€™t let Ned go to stk unless;

  • Bailey for Petracca is in fact on OR

  • The StK pick 7 for Ned would be part of a deal that satisfies MFC for Trac

Flanders is contracted known to be of interest to Melbourneโ€ฆ GC has stated CP5 is a priority so theyโ€™re not going to trade Flanders to another club unless it helps them.

Why the hell would anyone want to go there?

They will not get off the bottom 4 for 5+ years.

Merritt is long gone either this year or next. Theyโ€™re stuffed. More than us. Thatโ€™s saying something.

Hang on, hang on. He had pasta and wine over dinner with the โ€˜aints and a mid-morning coffee with us!

This doesnโ€™t bode well. I hope they made it an Irish coffee at the very least ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Maybe they should've taken him to Entrecote with Steven May

Essendon would have more money than St Kilda.

If he picks Essendon or St Kilda he's choosing money. Which, whatever he's a kid, go for it.

So my friend spoke to him today after the meeting with Melbourne.

Heโ€™s unsure.

We are considered a wildcard pick. Due to the clean out.

He is looking for midfield time and being close to family. I assume if we pay well, we are in with a shot and itโ€™s going to Be linked with Trac too he mentioned or at least he expects.

I donโ€™t think the Suns will be too worried.

If he goes to the Saints theyโ€™ll be armed with picks 6, 7, 13 and donโ€™t need any of them. All 3 will be traded for points picks with or without Tracc and teams will be lining up to deal with them.

Meanwhile do we really hold Tracc hostage for Flanders? Losing 3 best 22 runners in one off season hurts so no doubt Flanders helps cover that. But itโ€™s time to sell Tracc and reboot with committed players. If we have to pick up some delisted types or blood a few more kids for a year so be it.

Losing out to the dons or the saints for a player we want would be hard to swallow particularly as he seemed to be intent on victoria as opposed to a particular club

You would think the King connection is a factor and surely we can match or beat the salary

Losing out to Essendon would be a massive blow

Saints I can understand, they are going all in and Ross is selling players the dream that with all the incoming changes they can really challenge.

But WTF does Essendon have to show for themselves? 21 years in the wilderness, their captain hates them, they've lost Draper, they have the worst fitness and conditioning in the league.

If we lose this one out to Essendon I truly think that it's time to acknowledge that 3 years of endless leaks and p*ss poor comms, have made us untouchable to other players.

Optics matter so much, and I have been screaming from the rooftops that we have to get serious about how we present this club, how we get in front of stories, and how we MUST REMOVE WHOEVER IS LEAKING STUFF TO [censored] TOM MORRIS. But thank god our board wasted that time fighting in court about voting in elections instead. Great work.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
